Position Profile
The Senior Application Administrator is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing the system technical administration, maintenance, configuration, and IT support of complex enterprise-wide applications that address the business requirements of the state courts system. This position provides senior-level technical expertise to all application administration functions.
Reporting to an Information Technology Manager, Information Technology Supervisor, or equivalent, this is a senior-level position that works independently and exercises decision-making responsibility commensurate with the high level of technical expertise required of the position. Work products are expected to be of the highest quality, and utilized to review and evaluate the technical work products of lower-level application administrators. This senior-level position coordinates application technical administration actions within the team and across the enterprise. Ability to complete complex tasks using advanced knowledge and skill, including developing new processes and working with internal and external customers and stakeholders. May perform lead worker duties if assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads collaboration efforts with customer, business analysts, and other IT resources to administer application configuration, operation, maintenance, security, integrations, workflows, reports, and other key features.
- Responsible for ensuring software compatibility with other existing software.
- Responsible to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Coordinates directly with software vendors on issues, upgrades, and support requirements.
- Works with Infrastructure to determine specifications for new hardware and configurations required by the applications.
- Leads staff activities to upgrade the applications this position supports.
- Resolves application software issues within critical applications.
- Responds to customer service requests and provides senior-level consulting and troubleshooting.
- Advises journey-level staff on resolution of service requests of moderate (Tier 2) complexity related to assigned applications.
- Responsible for the resolution of service requests of major (Tier 3) complexity related to assigned applications and coordinates with vendor for timely resolutions.
- Maintains integration applications, works with the vendor if needed and handles new integration requests.
- Responsible for handling sensitive public audit requests and running reports.
- Analyzes application issues, conducts in-depth research, and provides recommendations on solutions based on business and technical objectives.
- Oversees the administration of IT applications and associated components with the entire application support team.
- Performs validation and tests for all changes to application configuration, operation, security, workflows, reports, and other key features.
- Communicates application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including vendors and court/agency leadership.
- Proactively monitors application performance to identify emerging issues.
- Develops system release documentation and communication.
- Responsible for end user application security access maintenance.
- Formulates routines and standards of practice to complete assigned tasks.
- Creates and maintains documentation for research and reference.
- Automate redundant manual tasks.
- Performs other duties as required.

- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, OR closely allied field, AND
- Eight (8) years of experience in a complex information technology environment TO INCLUDE:
- Five (5) years of experience as an administrator on an enterprise-level, complex application.
THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of multi-tier, distributed application server and network architecture, server administration concepts, application access and least privilege security principles, IT change management processes, service-oriented technologies, basic network principles, business process analysis, and the design of repeatable processes.
- Skill using version control systems, web services, and/or automated build/deploy agents.
- Advanced skills conducting triage and troubleshooting of application issues with server software, network and desktop software.
- Ability to create flowcharted procedures for Tier 1 and Tier 2 application administration functions to all resolution at the appropriate level.
- Highly proficient at SQL and writing of custom queries.
- Skills at managing software support and upgrade risks and develop upgrade plans to mitigate security risks.
- Ability to develop system and process documentations and technical documentation for the end-users.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of Enterprise Architecture and understanding of the interactions between enterprise applications and other systems.
Supplemental Information
- The workweek may fluctuate depending on workload or agency needs.
- Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.
- This position is not overtime eligible.
