Senior Application Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Application Engineer to support our aerospace manufacturing operations. This role requires some exposure to metal fabrication, welding, brazing, tooling, and shop floor support, ensuring that custom aerospace projects meet the highest quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Consultation - Work closely with customers and internal teams to develop custom aerospace and defense components, providing recommendations on materials, fabrication techniques, and process improvements.
  • Manufacturing Process Support - Assist the shop floor team with troubleshooting welding, brazing, and fabrication challenges, ensuring efficient production and high-quality standards.
  • Tooling & Fixture Development - Design and optimize tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support welding, brazing, and machining operations.
  • Process Optimization - Improve metal fabrication, precision welding (TIG, MIG, laser), and brazing techniques to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and structural integrity.
  • Quality & Compliance - Ensure adherence to aerospace and defense industry standards (AS9100, NADCAP, AWS, and MIL-SPEC).
  • Cross-Department Collaboration - Work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality control teams to refine designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Customer Support & Project Management - Engage with clients on technical requirements, provide engineering solutions, and ensure timely execution of custom projects.
  • Documentation & Training - Develop and maintain technical process guides, work instructions, and training programs for shop floor personnel.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, with knowledge of welding, brazing, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, fixture design, and fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for designing tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Familiarity with aerospace material properties, including titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys.
  • Knowledge of AWS welding codes, ASME standards, and NADCAP requirements are a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience in shop floor support.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment with multiple projects running simultaneously.
