Job Summary: Senior Architect
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Architectural team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is looking to grow their talents and increase exposure in the field of Architecture with specific focus in institutional project work, primarily K-12 and higher education, with potential for exposure to healthcare. The candidate should be a strong team player with a keen desire to join our integrated team of design professionals. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Project Managers while working on projects that may span all NK office geographies (NY, NJ & PA). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of experience.
This position is currently offered as a hybrid position, with both in-office requirements as well as the potential for remote work. Hybrid work protocols may be subject to change as the company policies adapt to post-pandemic business needs.
The position is located at NK Architects' New Jersey office at 95 Washington Street, Morristown.
Candidate Duties/Responsibilities:
Represent the firm as primary liaison to clients, including institutional entities
Assist in development of project fees, budgets, proposals and contracts
Provide management of project team activities while also maintaining hands-on ability to contribute directly to the production effort
Coordinate all project technical and administrative efforts to ensure the most
efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects
Maintain responsibility to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client's satisfaction
Actively develop and manage both internal and client budgets, schedules, and programs, project communications and documentation, office administrative tasks and project team assignments
Demonstrate competence in all conventional aspects of architecture while working closely with principals
Coordinate efforts of internal architectural staff and consultants
Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project(s), including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of appropriate design solutions
Independently develop and apply advanced architectural concepts and designs, and perform assignments on a range of project types (new construction, renovation, and alterations) for projects of advanced complexity
Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects
Provide technical guidance to less experienced architects / architectural staff
Conscious of meeting deadlines while working on multiple projects
Manage electronic filing and organize project files utilizing established office platforms and standards
Execute all work in a professional manner
Required Skills/Abilities:
Comfortable in a fast-paced and energetic environment
Proficient in Autodesk Revit a plus
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites a plus
Familiarity with Newforma a plus
Must be versed in Microsoft office, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
Collaborative work ethic
Strong communication skills
Experience with design, development and documentation of educational projects is a plus
Prior experience with New Jersey Schools Development Corporation (NJSDA) design-build process and other agency-driven project delivery a plus
Education and Experience:
BArch or equivalent degree from an accredited U.S. Architecture School
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
