On a day-to-day, the Senior Audit Data Analyst works primarily with Power BI, SQL, Python, and Excel, contributing meaningfully by partnering with the Manager/Supervisor to support and drive analytics projects. You will:
- Deliver analytic results while adhering to phases of the analytics lifecycle which includes requirements gathering, acquisition of data, data preparation, data analysis, end-user review, presentation/reporting, deployment, and continuous monitoring for improvement.
- Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects to ensure operational efficiency and successful completion within established timelines.
- Develop and implement continuous monitoring processes using data analytics to identify potential risks and improve department operations.
- Provide impactful insight and interpretation of data through compelling visuals (e.g., dashboards, data visualizations).
- Effectively communicate results of analyses to help non-technical/non-statistical personnel understand data analytic concepts.
- Establish and maintain trusting relationships with departments/executive leadership by leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Provide periodic training, mentorship, and guidance to junior data analysts and others, including non-data analysts, build foundational analytic skills, as well as promote collaboration amongst analysts across multiple Harris County departments.
- Proactively identify processes and resources to implement industry-leading technologies that enhances data analysis and auditing functions.
- Assist the Audit Division's quality control program for compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards through the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Conduct quality assessments to ensure compliance with department requirements and alignment with industry-leading data analytic practices.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, computer science, data science, management information systems, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) to seven (7) years of overall experience, with a blend of data analytics and support experience.
- Three (3+) years of hands-on experience in designing and developing data visualizations using software and tools (Power BI, Tableau, ).
- Three (3+) years of experience with relational databases, performing data transformations and data modeling using SQL.
- Three (3+) years of hands-on coding experience using Python, or other object-oriented language.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a curious, proactive mindset and the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends and anomalies, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex information to audiences at all organizational levels.

Work Environment:
- Monday - Friday | 40 hrs. per week | Exempt
- May be required to work more than forty hours during the workweek or on weekends when special projects need to be completed, or deadlines need to be met.
- Position's physical requirements: Ability to push/pull up to 20 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20 lbs. | 80% sitting, 15% standing, and 5% walking.
- Occasional travel throughout Harris County as needed.
