Organization's Summary Statement:
The Senior Budget Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the financial planning and budgeting activities of the University of Maryland College Park Foundation (UMCPF) and the Division of University Relations (VPUR).

This position is responsible for fiscal planning, development, implementation, reporting and monitoring of UMCPF and VPUR capital and operating budgets. This position will work closely with the Director, Budgets & Financial Systems to perform complex data analysis and interpretation to monitor financial performance; develop and maintain forecasts and projections using statistical analyses; and prepare various ad hoc queries and reports related to budget and financial planning which are used by all levels of management for decision making and monitoring of institutional performance.

Physical Demands:
Normal office environment with extensive computer use. Must be able to clearly read computer screen for extended periods and maintain significant fine finger dexterity for keyboarding. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling common office items such as supplies, files and documented materials. Ability to travel to/from campus for meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of professional budget, finance, or accounting experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge of accounting systems, financial reporting, and budget preparation and analysis.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Ability to acquire, apply and expand knowledge of the University's policies.

-Strong computer proficiency using MS Office with an emphasis in Excel (i.e. Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Formula/Function usage, etc.), including spreadsheet creation and report production.

-Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem solving abilities with strong mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.

-Strong writing skills are required to aid in development of budget reports, provide justification, analysis and descriptions of budget requirements. Strong written and oral communications skills are important for UMCP Foundation and University Relations budget communications.
-Strong interpersonal relationships for collaborative teamwork for internal office, Colleges/Schools business offices, and institutional budget offices.
-Working knowledge of financial and personnel systems as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Workday financials.
- Familiarity with UMD systems (such as Workday, PHR, BA4)
