Position Description
The Senior Budget Analyst plays an important role in supporting the financial planning and reporting functions of the Finance department. Reporting to the Director of Budget, Reporting & Risk Management, the Analyst assists in budget preparation, variance analysis, and the creation of detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as a critical link between Finance and other departments, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timely insights.

Position Description
The Senior Budget Analyst plays an important role in supporting the financial planning and reporting functions of the Finance department. Reporting to the Director of Budget, Reporting & Risk Management, the Analyst assists in budget preparation, variance analysis, and the creation of detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as a critical link between Finance and other departments, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timely insights.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with department managers on the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly financial estimates.
- Partner with the Development team to generate financial reports for donor, foundation, and government reporting.
- Maintain and update budget and forecast ledgers; track organizational operating statistics.
- Prepare and distribute monthly Board reports, weekly leadership reports, and program-specific updates.
- Assist in preparing variance analyses comparing actual results against budget and projections.
- Contribute to the development of the organization-wide financial dashboards and performance metrics.
- Prepare board materials and reports for Board and Committee meetings in collaboration with the Director.
- Assist in the development of new and ad hoc financial reports to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to improve financial transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; 3-5 years of experience in a financial analyst role.
- Advanced Excel skills, including dashboard creation, modeling, and automation.
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite and SmartView reporting; experience with Tessitura and Power BI is a plus.
- Working knowledge of financial databases, data modeling, and intermediate SQL.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
