Senior Buyer - Toronto Manufacturing
Salary Range $80,000.00 and up based on experience.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Working with the leadership team to set goals and objectives, along with communicating weekly and monthly data to the management team.
- Managing all departmental functions so that goals and objectives are consistently achieved.
- Assessing supplier performance to ensure that products meet manufacturing requirements.
- Developing purchasing policies and procedures.
- Participating in the development of specifications for equipment, products or alternate materials.
- Recommending a sourcing strategy that delivers customer needs, addresses market conditions and maximizes positive impact to the organization.
- Leading procurement related negotiations with existing and new vendors.
- Supporting the operations group by coordinating flow of information and leading RFPs.
- Working with all teams to optimize inventory levels.
- Developing and maintaining business relationships with suppliers and business associates.
- Ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed with all required information for the purposes of obtaining approvals and recording and reporting business.
- Participating in training opportunities as per annual development plans.
- Remaining conversant regarding new technology, government regulations, policies and procedures related to procurement and logistics.
- Effectively collaborating with central Supply Chain team to ensure alignment of procedures and policies.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A Degree or diploma with a focus in Supply Chain, Economics or Business. Preference given to those with an SCMP designation.
- 5+ years working experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive experience in purchasing, inventory, planning, supervision, logistics and MRP systems.
- Advanced understanding of Corporate Purchasing procedures.
- High level of initiative and motivation to simultaneously handle complex procurement assignments in a team environment.
- Ability to change directions and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
- Team-based attitude, eager to cooperate with others and exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed project expectations.
Additional assets for this position include:
- Training in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, quality or safety.
- Exposure to engineering BOMs or product configurations.
- Experience in factory setting or with manufactured goods.
- Understanding of HVAC, industrial silencer or fire damper products.
- Familiarity with aluminum extrusions, roll formed parts or sheet metal/coil.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and supplies.
