McGee & Co. is seeking a Senior Buyer over our Home Furnishings team in Draper, UT. This position will manage the Buying team while also driving category and assortment strategies for the business. The ideal candidate is ambitious in nature, manages priorities and timelines, comfortable working in cross-functional teams, organized, and passionate about the brand and the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold McGee & Co.'s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Develop the assortment strategy from concept to launch ensuring that strategy aligns with the overall brand strategy.
  • Plan and execute procurement strategies that align with the organization's goals and budget while managing multiple projects at once.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional team members to execute overall brand strategy including but not limited to Marketing, Visual Styling, Creative, Accounting, and Customer Experience.
  • Responsible for key performance goals and metrics such as revenue growth, inventory turnover, gross margin, and in-stock rates.
  • Analyze business on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly level to provide insights and recommendations on how to improve performance and drive growth.
  • Maintain industry expertise; keeps abreast of new trends and new product ideas.
  • Manage vendor relationships to provide maximum return by negotiating payment terms, pricing, MOQs, and delivery.
  • Maintain awareness of competition relative to product value relationship and customer profitability.
  • Create category-level hindsight reports including learnings and recommendations to drive strategic assortment decisions for future investment.
  • Face complexities such as dynamic markets, changing customer demands, supplier availability, and competitive pressures.
  • Supervises, assigns and evaluates work, trains and provides guidance to Buying team.

Skills & Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Previous Years of Related Experience:
  • 3-5 years in a Retail Buying or Merchandising role

Specific Skill Requirements:
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of urgency responding to internal and external customers
  • Organizational and time management skills; must have the ability to manage deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to details and data integrity
  • Netsuite experience is a plus
