THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:
The Senior Category Manager is responsible for developing strategies and priorities for 3P categories (white space opportunities, target brands, trends to capture, etc.). They are also responsible for hunting/acquiring the right sellers for marketplace and ensuring success of key sellers on platform including driving revenue and smooth operation. The role also demands the ability to build relationships and trust with sellers, analyzing and reporting on their performance.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The pay range for this position is $117,000.00 - $160,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. The role also demands the ability to build relationships and trust with sellers, analyzing and reporting on their performance.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop the strategy and approach of acquiring new brands in partnership with key internal stakeholders
- Identify and manage a pipeline of strategic accounts across key categories
- Develop creative solutions to identify new prospects and build a robust pipeline of new brands
- Identifying channels, e.g., online and offline, for seeking potential sellers of the items
- Forecast volume and number of new sellers and activities required to incubate them
- Working closely with the Merchandising team to understand products, specifications, and prices to sell at in the marketplace
- Conduct the pitch, negotiate deals until closure to get potential sellers to join the marketplace
- Educate sellers on features, promotional campaign and market insights
- Implements campaigns for new sellers
- Interact with stakeholders of different teams to ensure products sold by new sellers receive enough visibility on the product pages
- Update the management team on weekly progress
- A Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not required.
- At least 5 years experience in retail, e-commerce, business development or sales; experience with B2B environment preferred
- Strong relationship building/ management and business development skills, including lead generation, negotiation necessary to acquire and retain partners
- A strong knowledge of marketplaces, their functioning, and Ulta's value proposition to sellers
- Experience in using actionable campaign research and data to improve, optimize and drive future campaigns, incorporating a fail fast, fail cheap model of learning
- Ability to track and confidently translate digital performance metrics that drive financial targets
- Background in data collection, activation, and measurement concepts within the digital space; understanding of approaches for measuring incrementality
- Knowledge of Google Analytics a plus, advanced Excel/Sheets skills are essential
- Demonstrated proficiency leading analytically rigorous sales planning and initiatives
- Strong communication skills with ability to teach new concepts and effectively communicate feedbacks from field sales team to other squads
- Active coach and mentor whose goal is to grow and maximize the team's potential.
