Ameriprise Financial is looking to add a Senior Category Sourcing Analyst to the team! The individual in this role will perform several key Procurement processes with limited direction, interact with business owners to understand specifications and requirements within assigned commodities, with vendors to understand product and service offerings and pricing, and with peers and leadership to understand and do directed analysis of sourcing data. Additionally, this role is responsible for executing small-to-medium, less-complex sourcing efforts and supporting the larger, more-complex sourcing efforts of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support supplier negotiations, including assisting on the development of negotiation strategies. Ensure execution of developed strategy to achieve targeted commercial terms of contracts.
  • Focus on sourcing projects that are small-to-medium in size and low-to-medium in complexity.
  • Support larger, more complex sourcing efforts as directed.
  • Draft RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs. Structure and conduct RFP response analysis.
  • Understand company specifications and Business Partner requirements and incorporate them into sourcing events. Provide recommendations for changes in requirements where appropriate. Work with legal and document drafting teams to translate requirements and commercial terms into legal documents.
  • Analyze market and spend data. Decompose vendor pricing proposals to understand fixed and variable pricing drivers and levers. Work with others to quantify spend associated with assigned commodities.
  • Understand and use internal Procurement tools and processes. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data for assigned projects. Expand market knowledge of assigned commodities. Quantify savings achieved.
  • Conduct data gathering and analysis for content used in recurring internal/external presentations (e.g. pipelines, category updates, BUR, etc.)


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and SharePoint
  • Experienced user of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Good data analysis skills
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data and interpret key findings


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in RFP drafting and supplier negotiations
  • Good collaboration and influencing skills
  • Project management skills demonstrated by experience in a consulting or business environment
  • 2+ years of experience in progressive roles, which include strategic sourcing
  • Ability to use pivot tables effectively and to craft meaningful data presentations
  • Self-driven and flexible
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate ideas and recommendations
  • Good communications and facilitations skills

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $74,800-$101,000/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
