Job Responsibilities
Senior ConsultantThe Department of Administration's (Admin) Office of Technology & Information Services (OTIS) is seeking a Senior Consultant to join the team. OTIS oversees the state's federated model for implementing, enhancing, and protecting information technology (IT) resources and the utilization of IT shared services across agencies. This position will serve as an IT liaison and between Admin shared services and Admin divisions. Act as a first point of contact for Admin IT issues as well as an ambassador from Division of Technology Operations (DTO) to the other divisions. Work collaboratively with vendors, stakeholders and leadership to make process and operational recommendations.

Responsibilities of the Senior Consultant:
  • Build and maintain the relationship between Admin Divisions and Admin OTIS to increase stakeholder satisfaction with IT shared services. Routinely meet with Admin teams to understand IT issues and process deficiencies. Establish processes and educate Admin staff on how best to accomplish IT related tasks.
  • Work closely with DTO, IT vendors, and the Admin IT Program manager to systematically address operational and strategic IT issues. Gather and provide IT service satisfaction on a routine basis with a running report of identified issues with an ETA and provide this report to Admin leadership on a weekly basis.
  • Use tools to track and report work effort and status on a routine basis. Conduct light-weight project management to track larger initiatives including all relevant tasks and timelines.
  • Respond promptly and serve as the coordinating point for VIP issues and requests to ensure prompt service and support. Prepare and communicate after incident reports as needed. Perform special project coordination, tracking and reporting to ensure effective and efficient execution of tasks by leveraging the correct resources to accomplish the job.
  • Build and maintain knowledge materials to support the mission of the various Admin divisions, to include but not limited to instructions on basic computer tasks, special software instructions, and training materials.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, computer science (IT), information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications and/or IT. Relevant experience, training, and education may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning programs and work activities in an IT environment.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the implementation of short and long-range IT based activities and objectives.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct and review the work of technical personnel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior level personnel to assist in IT decision-making.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with users, technical staff, management, vendors and others.
  • Develop working knowledge of agency business processes and how IT impacts its users and stakeholders.
