Job Description:
In this position as a Senior Consultant, you will perform a wide range of advanced accounting, fund accounting, and financial analysis to assist with compiling and publishing Financial Statements. You will analyze data from source documents and Army/DoD accounting systems, provide audit support to facilitate the execution of audit activities and remediate and prevent audit finding, and review journal vouchers, identify errors, and perform root cause analysis. Job Description:
In this position as a Senior Consultant, you will perform a wide range of advanced accounting, fund accounting, and financial analysis to assist with compiling and publishing Financial Statements. You will analyze data from source documents and Army/DoD accounting systems, provide audit support to facilitate the execution of audit activities and remediate and prevent audit finding, and review journal vouchers, identify errors, and perform root cause analysis. In this position, you will also:
- Financial Statement Analysis & Compilation: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data from source documents and Army/DoD accounting systems, identifying patterns, trends, and discrepancies that inform accurate financial reporting.
- Audit Readiness & Support: Work collaboratively with audit teams to ensure the successful execution of audit activities, providing detailed support that addresses audit findings and assists in corrective action planning.
- Internal Control Improvement: Review Journal Vouchers (JVs) for accuracy, identify and resolve discrepancies, and perform root cause analysis to improve internal controls and financial reporting accuracy.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all processes and practices align with federal financial management standards, enhancing both short- and long-term auditability and compliance with regulations.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field.
- 2 years of experience compiling and analyzing Army, DoD, or federal government financial statements, with at least 1 year focused on USSGL (U.S. Standard General Ledger) analysis for both proprietary and budgetary purposes.
- Proficiency in Army/DoD accounting systems and federal financial data sources, with a demonstrated ability to synthesize and analyze complex data accurately.
Desired Skills:
- Proven ability to analyze complex accounting data and identify significant insights that enhance financial reporting and strategic decision-making.
- Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) certification is preferred, as it demonstrates expertise in DoD financial management principles and practices.
