Shields Health has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Accountant to work Full-Time (Mon-Fri) on a hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office at our corporate office in Quincy, MA and 2 from home.

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including month-end and year-end close, account reconciliation, financial reporting and special projects. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Director of Accounting on special projects and new business ventures. This role is a challenging, high exposure role with exciting growth potential.

- Highly organized with the ability to multi task and prioritize
- Proficiency with accounting software systems. Experience with Sage Intacct is beneficial but not required.
- Desire to mentor staff accountants
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Primary Responsibilities
- Actively participate and support the full month end close cycle to include preparation of journal entries, allocations and month-end reconciliations for 40+ legal entities
- Prepare and review internal and external reporting packages consisting of operating company P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements and other supporting schedules
- Perform monthly balance sheet, cash flow, and P&L variance analysis, noting unusual or one-time variances while ensuring the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
- Collaborate across the Shields network to gather financial information for monthly close
- Prepare year-end related items including tax and audit work papers
- Proactively recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the month-end close and the financial reporting process.
- Support budgeting process and FP&A team
- Perform ad hoc requests & participate in new business projects
Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (CPA Preferred)
- Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience
- Health care experience a plus
- Multi entity experience a plus
