Description:

The Senior Cost Accountant position is responsible for all aspects of Purchasing cost maintenance and analysis, as well as Distribution and Logistics spend. The Senior Cost Accountant will support the Cost Accounting Manager in ensuring accurate product costing, ownership and analysis of monthly variance capitalization, and management of monthly cost account reconciliations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Provide timely and accurate product costing support to the business

2. Review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances and prepare reports

3. Work with logistics team to properly record and budget inbound and outbound freight costs on a monthly basis

4. Provide monthly journal entry support and balance sheet reconciliations for COGS and inventory accounts

5. Provide support to Customs team on the recording and reporting of duty and tariff expense

6. Liaise with the FP&A team to define allocations of costs across the various business segments

7. Execute the annual Standard Cost Roll and upload costing updates from the Operations business segments

8. Provide weekly support and reporting for the Distribution Center expenses, and present to Senior Leadership

9. Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as needed; including preparation of ad-hoc reports in response to questions regarding costs and profitability

10. Assist with the preparation of the annual Budget for any Purchasing COGS accounts

11. Respond to year-end audit requests for inventory and product cost testing

12. Work on special projects as required

13. Identify cost savings opportunities within distribution and logistics areas of the business

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and five (5) to seven (7) years of manufacturing cost accounting experience is preferred. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required:

1. Proficiency in Excel, experience in manipulating large databases

2. Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory and cost accounting

3. Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required

4. Experience in performing Standard Cost Roll procedures and system requirements

5. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

6. Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments.

7. Must be a team player who also works well independently.

8. Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations.

9. SAP costing experience not required, but preferred

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This salary range is $80,000-$100,000.
