In this role, you'll use your knowledge to ensure today's systems are safe and help design secure systems for the future. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will conduct lifecycle security engineering activities, focusing on the integration of security requirements into information systems from inception to final deployment. This position will support various DoD agencies, such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other military efforts.

Polaris is searching for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to play a key role in securing critical information systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). In this role, you'll use your knowledge to ensure today's systems are safe and help design secure systems for the future. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will conduct lifecycle security engineering activities, focusing on the integration of security requirements into information systems from inception to final deployment. This position will support various DoD agencies, such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other military efforts.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the development and evaluation of information system security policies.
- Analyze network security using the Risk Management Framework (RMF), focusing on the Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG) authorization process.
- Provide expert-level support, research, and analysis of highly complex security issues.
- Assist architects and systems developers in identifying and implementing appropriate security functionalities for DoD and other agency policies.
- Assess and mitigate system security risks throughout the program lifecycle.
- Contribute to security planning, risk analysis, and certification activities for system and network operations.
- Lead a team of System Security Engineers and Certification and Accreditation Analysts.
- Support the customer's IA working groups and participate in Security Engineering (SSE) IPT reviews.
- Assist in designing and implementing JSIG/RMF Continuous Monitoring tools and processes.
- Perform security assessments of servers, network devices, and security appliances.
- Develop new techniques to improve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems operating at various classification levels.
- Monitor and analyze the output of cybersecurity-related tools to identify reportable incidents and residual risks.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance, willingness to submit to a CI polygraph.
- 15+ years of experience in Information Assurance and System Security roles.
- Prior experience in roles such as ISSO, ISSM, or SCA.
- Master's degree in a related discipline or 6 years of equivalent experience.
- IASA E Level II or IASAE III certification (CASP+ CE, CISSP, CSSLP).
- Expert knowledge of DoD, National, and applicable service and agency security policies and standards.
