Senior Cytotechnologist

Job Summary:

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories(MDL), a member of Genesis Biotechnology Group, is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses.

MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

The Senior Cytotechnologist performs specialized and complex testing that involves microscopic screening and evaluation of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens; provides interpretations to the Supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs thorough and accurate microscopic evaluation of cellular samples using recognized criteria to make cytological interpretations.
  • Correlates findings with supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.
  • Accurately records all appropriate specimen and results data.
  • Performs fine need aspirations to prepare biopsies and assess cellular adequacy.
  • Assures individual specimen turnaround times are consistent with overall laboratory expectations.
  • Assures cytological activities and equipment are used and maintained safely and in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Appropriate established laboratory techniques are used in the preparation of quality slides from cytological samples.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned.

Job Qualifications: General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) required

  • ASCP Board Certification
  • Experience with Thin-Prep Imaging System; Review Scope a plus

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and repetitive motion: (microscopic screening).
  • Proficient visual and audio skills

  • Laboratory setting
  • Use of personal protective equipment may be necessary
  • May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids


Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related science
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
