As a Senior Design Manager working in the Alternative Projects Centre of Expertise (APEX) team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role driving collaboration as it relates to complex hospital project designs. Working on large-scale healthcare projects - ranging from $100 million to upwards of $1 billion - you will have the opportunity to provide guidance, port and assistance to ensure collaboration with our Project Managers and support consultants from concept through to construction.

As a Senior Design Manager working in the Alternative Projects Centre of Expertise (APEX) team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role driving collaboration as it relates to complex hospital project designs. Working on large-scale healthcare projects - ranging from $100 million to upwards of $1 billion - you will have the opportunity to provide guidance, port and assistance to ensure collaboration with our Project Managers and support consultants from concept through to construction.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for managing and coordinating the design development and technical aspects of a project, as part of an RFP for a design-build project or other types of partnerships;
- Ensures production of plans and specifications (deliverable) at a level of progress that meets the requirements of our clients and both our estimation and construction teams;
- Develop designs and ensure that any available cost-effective alternatives are reviewed and that the design is optimized in accordance with the RFP instructions;
- Be a key player on the proposal team and collaborate with all stakeholders on the team;
- Monitor the professional firms' performance, especially in terms of quality, schedule and costs. Once the contract has been acquired, the design manager's role on the project team will continue until the design has been finalized;
- Manage, develop, ensure and participate within these areas of the design management process; Planning, design development, project development, monitoring professionals' performance, project execution.
This role could be for you if you have
- Educational background in Architecture, Engineering or other related field.
- Experience with government projects and healthcare building designs projects.
- Expertise in the design of Public- Private Partnership (PPP) projects and Design Build.
- You are familiar with alternate contracts (DB, P3, or similar).
- Ability to work with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design Construction (VDC) modelling.
- 15+ years of experience managing workflows and processes specific to government and healthcare architectural/engineering projects.
Additional Assets Include:
- Fluent in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
- Master's degree or architectural licensure is strongly preferred.
