The Senior Design Project Manager will manage capital projects architectural and engineering design firms from project inception through close-out. This position will assist the Construction Project Manager will necessary aspects necessary during bidding, award, construction and close-out, as well as
be accountable for adherence to the project's design budget, schedule and completion of the approved scope. The Senior Design Project Manager will communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders and resolve any issues throughout the project life cycle. Additionally, the Senior Design Project Manager will lead the management of the design contract, oversee scope development, manage the internal review process for design, review constructability logic with the Construction Team and value management, and manage overall design project coordination. This position will be accountable for successfully executing larger more complex and higher value contracts with Architects/Engineers and other technical consultants and coordinate the design review efforts with CHA, City of Chicago Department of Buildings and other regulatory agencies to ensure that all design documents comply with Federal, State and Local regulations and guidelines. Serve as mentor to other design project managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, or Engineering or related field with a minimum 8 years of responsibility in a design project manager role. This individual must possess excellent communication (written, verbal and interpersonal) and negotiation skills. Effective problem-solving skills along with excellent organizational and planning experience. Must be able to meet schedule and budget commitments in a dynamic environment. A working knowledge of federal, state and local housing regulations and budgeting/accounting principles is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and willing to travel to project sites. Must have demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects, with significant experience mentoring and training other staff. Minimum OSHA 30-Hour certification required or obtained within six (6) months of employment. Experience with affordable housing and government contracts is preferred. Experience with managing multiple design projects for large public agencies, preferably for the city of Chicago, also preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the CHA construction team and project stakeholders on the development of project charters.
- Identify, solicit and manage the third party professionals required for the duration of the project.
- Perform design reviews as necessary to ensure successful completion of design and adherence to the schedule and budget.
- Review, analyze and interpret HUD guidelines as they relate to the project.
- Coordinate with city and federal agencies as required.
- Achieve project objectives by creating clear and attainable project plans, building scope of work requirements, managing design project cost, design project schedule and design scope of work.
- Act as the CHA liaison for activities between the CHA, Architects, Engineers, Consultants, Construction Team, Asset Management and Tenant groups during development and design.
- Responsible for holding design project meetings with all consultants, construction team, architect, and various other stakeholders during the design process.
- Review and approve architects, engineers and consultants progress schedules; reviews and approves the monthly progress invoice packages for all parties of the project, while tracking the internal process until payment is issued.
- Maintain accurate project records using the project management system.
- Review of close-out documents, including as-builts, for adherence to the contract documents and CHA standard operating procedures.
- Supervise and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Mentor other design project managers.
- Work with leadership to develop and implement training programs for staff and lessons learned for all assigned projects.
- Must be available to respond to crisis situations twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Architect or professional engineer license in good standing preferred.
