Senior Designer - Valves & Automation Job Summary

The Senior Designer/Drafter will provide drafting and design support by creating component models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for mechanical and electrical devices. This role ensures compliance with company standards and best practices, maintaining ERP and related data accordingly. The Senior Designer/Drafter will also review and approve the work of team members, providing guidance to ensure quality and accuracy in designs.

Senior Designer - Valves & Automation Responsibilities
  • Lead design and drafting activities, providing continuous guidance and support to designers and drafters.
  • Review, check, and approve team members' work for accuracy before release.
  • Resolve design problems by reviewing and analyzing specifications, sketches, drawings, and related data.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and technical handbooks.
  • Store and manage drawings electronically, maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems.
  • Perform mathematical computations to develop and refine specifications for components or assemblies.
  • Create schematics, orthographic, and angled views to illustrate functional relationships of components.

Senior Designer - Valves & Automation Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a two-year degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of design/drafting experience.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD programs, including Part Design, Assemblies, Detail/Assembly Drawings, and PDM File Management, preferred.
  • Experience in valve design is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and ability to guide designers and drafters.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Drafting Standard.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of form, fit, and function of mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers to gather necessary information and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of design principles for manufacturing processes such as molding, stamping, casting, machining, and welding.
  • Attention to detail, regulatory compliance, and safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with initiative and urgency.
