Reports to: Senior Director of Design & Development

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA Office

Salary Range: $110,000-$140,000

General Overview: The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for leading the design and engineering of world-class protective products for the Easton brand. This includes batter's helmets, catcher's gear, batter's protective equipment, and related items. The role involves driving innovative design, overseeing the development process, and supporting the manufacturing of cutting-edge protective gear.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development:
    • Leads the design & development of products that meet rigorous internal design and brand standards.
    • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create production-ready and detailed drawings of the product.
    • Produces specifications for products and selects raw materials and components for production.
    • Helps build models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
    • Applies insights into future designs in novel and efficient ways.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Works with product design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to execute all product needs.
    • Communicates with manufacturing partners to ensure "Best in Class" product delivery on time and on budget.
    • Creates presentations and communicates ideas clearly to the broader group.
    • Travels to vendor facilities during development and production stages.
  • Product and Market Analysis:
    • Constantly analyzes the competition to ensure competitiveness from a design and development perspective.
    • Considers current market trends and the competitive landscape.
    • Utilizes test data to improve product performance.
  • User and Market Feedback:
    • Performs validation with athletes and consumers to gain product insight and ensure effectiveness.
    • Works with player feedback during product development stages.
    • Troubleshoots consumer feedback of the product in the marketplace.
  • Quality and Production:
    • Works with the quality department and vendors to ensure consistent mass production.
    • Considers usability and ergonomics in design and development.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in design required.
  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with sports protective products is required, ideally with a focus on baseball.
  • Proficient with Adobe Suite. 3D software knowledge a must - ideally Solidworks.
  • Time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with mass production and manufacturing required.
  • Thorough understanding of trends and brand attributes translating to products.
  • Proven ability to meet project deliverables on time and on budget. Able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Proven skills in building strong internal and external business relationships. Ability to work with cross functional groups.
  • Experience with synthesizing input from engineers and product management teams to create a well-rounded solution.
  • Understands compliance standards and extrapolate consequences to product design.
  • Excellent visual, written and verbal communication skills. Clearly communicates design targets and concepts to audiences of varying backgrounds.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


Working Conditions: General office and manufacturing work environment.

Safety Hazards: Exposure to dust, airborne fibers, fumes, dirt, noise, vibrations, chemicals and solvents. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves are required while performing certain tasks.
