Pay-$140,000 to $190,000
Bonus Eligible

POSITION SUMMARY:
Washington Hospital Services (WHS) is the for-profit, wholly owned subsidiary of the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA). WHS connects WSHA members with affordable, best-in-class business solutions. WHS offers solutions through its five service lines: quality and clinical services; operations and revenue; insurance and risk management; workforce; and data analytics and information technology. These solutions are either offered by WHS or through a Preferred Partner. The Senior Director of Business Solutions connects members with the service solutions offered through WHS or by WHS' Preferred Partners. The incumbent accomplishes this by developing and enhancing relationships with key role players in member hospitals, understanding their key priorities and challenges, linking them to WHS services when appropriate, and identifying potential new service opportunities. The position works with the President and Marketing Director of WHS to create sales strategies for all WHS services lines. Working with the President the incumbent is responsible for vetting new and evaluating existing Preferred Partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Balance member needs with sales goals. Members' needs always come first.
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships and understands key priorities and challenges with key staff in member hospitals, including but not limited to CEO, COO, CFO, CMO, CNO, CHRO, CTO, and Supply Chain/Materials Management.
  • Identifies common priorities and challenges and works with the President and other service line leaders to explore ways in which WHS can help address them.
  • Work closely with relevant WHS leads, the Marketing Director, and Preferred Partners, to design and execute introductions (for Partners) and sales strategies (for WHS services).
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with all WHS partners, including but not limited to Preferred Partners.
  • Lead the implementation of strategic plan objectives as assigned.
  • Negotiate contracts with Preferred Partners to provide maximum member value.
  • Serve as lead staff for assigned Roundtables, participate in all other Roundtables and other relevant WSHA member-facing events.
  • Identify opportunities to add services that would generate both member value and revenue for WHS and work with President, WHS and other relevant staff to create and execute strategies to deliver those services. This may include conducting feasibility assessments, developing pro-forma budgets, and implementing program plans.
  • Represent WHS at state and national meetings and build relationships that benefit members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marketing Director reports to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

Master's degree in business, health administration, or public administration. 1 year of relevant experience can be substituted for 1 year of the education requirement.

Ten years' experience in management or sales occupations including business, healthcare, consulting.

Prior hospital operations experience a plus

Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (i.e., Hubspot)

  • Ability to travel and work weekends, as needed


Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Proficiency with email required. Knowledge of presentation graphics applications, and audio visual equipment required; working knowledge of association-management databases also required.

The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level. The position requires working in an office environment with the usual office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and computers. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear on the telephone and in person with individuals and groups. The incumbent may carry materials/equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on occasion. The incumbent is required to read and respond to documents in hard copy and electronic form. The position requires frequent or occasional travel within Washington State to member facilities, and on occasion, overnight travel is necessitated.

This position requires travel in state and some travel nationally.
