The Senior Director of Development will lead efforts to exceed contributed revenue goals, with a primary focus on individual and board giving. This role will design and implement strategies to grow individual philanthropy, manage key relationships, oversee stewardship and engagement, and collaborate on special events to further the Arts Center's mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Individual & Board Giving

  • Develop and implement strategies for individual giving, including major gifts, board contributions, and the Annual Fund.


  • Lead the Annual Fund campaign to meet or exceed revenue goals, ensuring accurate tracking of contributions and reporting.


  • Drive initiatives to increase board engagement and cultivate high-level donor relationships.


  • Identify, engage, and cultivate new donor prospects to grow and diversify the individual donor base.


Stewardship & Donor Relations

  • Oversee the stewardship of individual and board donors, ensuring timely acknowledgments and meaningful engagement.


  • Foster long-term relationships with trustees, donors, and other key stakeholders.


Special Event Strategy & Execution

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Stewardship and Events, develop strategies for engagement events involving the board and key donors.


  • Coordinate with the President & CEO's office on special projects and events.


  • Partner with the Corporate Giving team and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution.


Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Align fundraising efforts with the Corporate Giving team to ensure a unified development strategy.


  • Collaborate, as appropriate, with Development teams at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Alliance Theatre, and High Museum of Art.


Operational Excellence

  • Apply best practices in development operations to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and support long-term fundraising goals.


Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fundraising, with demonstrated expertise in individual giving and donor relations.


  • Proven success in managing high-level donor relationships and securing major gifts.


Skills & Abilities

  • Strategic Vision & Leadership: Proactive, results-oriented, with a talent for developing and executing fundraising strategies.


  • Technologically Proficient: Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with fundraising CRM systems.


  • Strong Organization & Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.


  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding verbal and written skills, capable of engaging donors, board members, and internal teams.


  • Collaborative Mindset: Able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


  • High Discretion & Judgment: Skilled in handling sensitive information with professionalism and diplomacy.


Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and use hands frequently.


  • Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.


  • Typical noise level is moderate
