About the Team:

As the Senior Director, Event Marketing you will report to the VP, Field & Event Marketing, and lead a team of event planners in support of the Medidata brand and Life Sciences Engagement (LSE) portfolio of brands. You will be responsible for developing the event strategy, overseeing the planning and execution of external events, and managing the team-all with the goal of driving demand and pipeline through the event channel.

Responsibilities:
  • Define holistic events plan including owned events, industry trade shows, account-based events, and webinars to drive brand awareness, pipeline, and ROI in support of the business and marketing strategies.
  • Engage in strategic event planning with key internal stakeholders, including C-level executives, ensuring benchmarks and goals are met and results are measured & reported.
  • Oversee the global owned event series, Medidata NEXT and Innovation Days including developing and implementing a comprehensive framework and plan for the series.
  • Manage total budget and on time delivery and execution of all events.
  • Lead team in the execution for events and manage the process end-to-end, ensuring a high-level of representation and superior quality for the brand image through all mediums, including customer engagement and experience.
  • Conduct venue research and site visits to secure the most optimal and cost-effective venues.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal departments and vendors.
  • Measure and report performance against established metrics and KPIs.
  • Analyze event data to optimize targeting, messaging, and conversion strategies for events.
  • Pre-event and on-site execution and management of events and external vendors, remaining in line with all business conduct and audit requirements.
  • Lead the events team with an emphasis on developing and retaining talent.
  • Up to 40% travel, mostly U.S.-based; work onsite for a minimum of 3 days in the Medidata New York office.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent years of experience
  • Requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in event management
  • Prior experience managing a team of 5-7
  • Strong B2B / enterprise software industry experience
  • Experience in tech, life sciences industry, and/or clinical development area preferred
  • Deep knowledge and experience in planning and executing events
  • Well-rounded marketer with proven ability to build and deploy robust event plans with demonstrated growth and success
  • Ability to think strategically and see the bigger picture, weaving event plans into the overall marketing plan
  • Superior communication, organizational, and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to navigate a complex organization and generate buy-in for ideas and plans
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind
  • Self-starter exhibiting agility with ability to thrive in a test, learn, optimize environment
  • Proven ability to lead a team and develop talent
  • Ability to be innovative with respect to program creation and problem resolution, and process-oriented with respect to marketing operations and execution workflows

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on many factors including function, level, candidate experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $157,000 - $210,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
