Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Senior Director of Clinical Practice. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Clinical Practice is a senior clinician and part of the Clinical Operations leadership team. The Senior Director of Clinical Practice has two main responsibilities: 1) Managing the roll-out of new clinical initiatives, including overseeing the clinical support required for the implementation of new Standards and Guidelines and 2) Providing clinical leadership for Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) at Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal), including oversight of clinician training and onboarding. Additionally, the Senior Director of Clinical Practice is a key participant in the quality and risk management functions of the affiliate, supporting the Sr. Director of Clinical Quality Assurance in key risk reduction and Clinical Quality Improvement activities. The Senior Director of Clinical Practice supervises the Director of Training, Senior Lead Clinician, and Clinical Operations Specialist.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Successful completion of accredited Advanced Practice Clinician program. Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge/experience with EHR & EPM systems. Knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software preferred.

This new law requires employers with 15 or more employees to include a pay range in job postings. The pay range reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. Employees with more experience, education, and other qualifying factors may be compensated at a higher rate of pay. The pay range for this position is: $139,900 - $173,500 annualized salary.

- Work in collaboration with the COO, Medical Director, Sr. Director of Clinical QA, and Senior Lead Clinician to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient focused, and efficient medical services.
- Oversee the clinical support required for the implementation of protocols and clinical programs and services, including program and service improvement activities such as leading workgroups and change management teams.
- Ensures that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a professional and patient centered manner in compliance with PPFA's Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs), PPNorCal policies and procedures and State and Federal regulatory requirements.
- In conjunction with the Medical Director, serves as clinical resource to clinicians regarding medical protocols, medical management issues, and clinical workflow, including communication of clinical practice changes and development of resources to support the health centers.
- Serves as clinical resource to clinicians on coding and serves as the liaison with PPNorCal's Revenue Cycle Department.
- In conjunction with the Senior Lead Clinician, supports annual review process for Lead Clinicians.
- Works closely with the COO and Medical Director to build capacity within the Clinical Operations Department to supervise and support health care service delivery.
- In conjunction with the Director of Training and Lead Clinician of Training, oversees the training process for clinicians, RNs, and Reproductive Health Specialists.
- In conjunction with the Director of Training, Lead Clinician of Training, Training Managers, and Training Coordinator, maintains and updates clinical training documents, standard operating procedures, curriculum, job aids, and materials.
- Directly participates in training new clinicians as needed.
- Along with the Medical Director, assesses requests for additional clinical skill training and development of clinicians.
- Oversees PPNorCal's APC precepting program with support from the Clinical Operations Specialist.
- Assist in planning, facilitating, and presenting clinical practice updates for the PPNorCal clinician/RN meetings and Lead Clinician/Center Director Meetings.
- Participates in affiliate QA activities, including root cause analyses and remediation plans. Participates in PPNorCal's Peer Review Committee; Compliance, Quality & Risk Management (CQRM) Committee; and Injury & Infection Prevention Committee.
- Work in collaboration with COO, Medical Director, and Sr. Director of Clinical Quality Assurance to develop and implement changes to clinical practice based on results of audits and identification of best practices to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.
- Assists in preparation of scheduled and unscheduled audits including PPFA accreditation.
- Provides clinical oversight to EHR workflow, utilization, compliance, and optimization. Collaborates with the EHR Site Specialists, Provider Builder, and EHR vendor. Serves as the Clinical Lead on the PPNorCal EHR Governance Committee and EHR Downtime Workgroup.
- Monitors changes to all clinician licensing boards (Board of Registered Nursing, Physician Assistant Board, and Medical Board of California Practice Guidelines for Licensed Midwives) Scope of Practice regulations and updates PPNorCal protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Authors and updates APN Standardized Procedures and PA Practice Agreements in collaboration with the legal department, compliance, and quality assurance.
- Maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care at least one day per month and providing support or training for other clinicians as needed.
- Role-models and provides Leadership toward the implementation of PPNorCal's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLINICIAN PROVIDING DIRECT CLINICAL CARE
- Work in the health center providing comprehensive clinical sexual and reproductive health care services to all patients in accordance with evidence-based practice protocols.
- Utilize knowledge of and experience in patient care to:
- Obtain a basic health history and comprehensive gynecological (GYN) history
- Perform a general physical exam, breast exam, GYN exam, and male genitourinary exam
- Recognize common breast and GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate
- Recognize common non-GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate
- Provide preventive care, including screening for breast and cervical cancers
- Obtain and interpret laboratory tests and results related to GYN visits
- Perform and interpret transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds
- Screen for contraindications and special conditions to contraceptive methods
- Provide appropriate contraception to patients, including intrauterine contraceptives (IUCs) and implants
- Test and treat STDs and other infectious conditions
- Provide PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection
- Provide care across the reproductive health lifespan, including basic infertility services and menopause management
- Provide medication abortion, early pregnancy complication management, and other special services as appropriate by licensure
- Assess and manage complications from surgical abortion, medication abortion, and vasectomy
- Provide care for patients of all gender identities, including gender-affirming care
- Exercise a commitment diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with patients and staff
- Construct an accurate assessment and plan based on history, exam, and lab findings
- Provide patients with general reproductive health maintenance, education, and counseling.
- Ensure complete and accurate medical documentation
- Act as a medical resource for health center staff
- Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity, with the goal of 3.0 visits per hour
- Bill and code patient visits appropriately
- Participate in research studies conducted in the health center

- Current California NP, PA, CNM or other Advanced Practice Clinician license
- Current CPR certificate

- Two or more years working as a Planned Parenthood Clinician preferred.
- Experience in teaching or training preferred.
- Two or more years' experience in health care supervision/management including personnel management and program management preferred
