LongeveronInc. is a publicly traded, development-stage biotechnology companydedicated to advancing regenerative medicine therapies for aging-related and life-threatening conditions. Headquartered in Miami, FL, we are at a pivotal growth stage, preparing for clinical and commercial milestones while expanding our team. With approximately 30 employees and plans to grow by 15 or more in the coming year, we seek a Senior Director of Human Resources to lead and execute our HR function as a sole contributor, reporting to our Chief Executive Officer.
Job Summary:We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and hands-on Senior Director of Human Resources to drive our people strategy and operational HR functions. As a key member of our leadership team, this individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human capital management, including talent acquisition and development, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, and organizational culture.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoys being both a strategic partner and an operational executor.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with Longeverons business objectives, growth trajectory, and evolving workforce needs.
- Partner with the executive team to drive a high-performance, innovative, and inclusive culture that attracts and retains top talent.
- Provide expert guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent management to support business scalability.
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Lead recruitment efforts to attract and retain top-tier talent, ensuring a smooth and efficient hiring process.
- Implement employee development programs, career pathways, and training initiatives to enhance skills and leadership within the company.
- Drive onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience.
Performance Management & Employee Engagement
- Design and oversee performance management programs, including goal setting, feedback mechanisms, and performance evaluations.
- Foster an engaging, positive workplace culture by implementing initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, recognition, and retention.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution and career development.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
- Manage compensation structures, ensuring competitive salaries and equity-based incentives align with industry benchmarks.
- Administer, oversee and collaborates on benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other total reward employee programs.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, including HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain HRIS and other HR-related systems for efficiency and data integrity.
HR Operations & Policy Development
- Lead, develop and refine HR policies, employee handbooks, and company guidelines to support a growing and dynamic workforce.
- Implement HR metrics and analytics to assess workforce trends and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Act as the primary HR representative for audits, investigations, and any legal or regulatory matters.
Internal Communications
- Manage internal communication channels, such as intranet, newsletters, and email updates, ensuring timely and consistent messaging.
- Collaborate with executive team to communicate key HR initiatives, policies, and organizational changes to employees.
- Create clear and compelling content for internal communications, including memos, policy updates, and employee recognition programs.
- Facilitate two-way communication by organizing town halls, Q&A sessions, and employee surveys to gather feedback and enhance organizational dialogue.
- Ensure all HR communications reflect the companys culture and values, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in a biotechnology, life sciences, or fast-growing startup environment.
- Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (Masters or Senior HR certification preferred).
- Experience in a sole contributor or small HR team role with hands-on execution of HR functions.
- Expertise in talent management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (currently have employees in multiple states)
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate strategically while executing day-to-day HR responsibilities in a lean environment.
- Experience in a publicly traded company including working with equity-based compensation is a plus.
