Senior Economist
The American Soybean Association (ASA) seeks an experienced individual to conduct economic research relating to biofuels and co-lead a working group of soybean industry biofuels experts. ASA represents approximately 500,000 U.S. soybean farmers on domestic and international policy issues important to the soybean industry and has 26 affiliated state associations representing 30 major soybean-producing states.
The senior economist will conduct intensive research on biofuel issues important to the industry. This includes land use change modeling and analysis of sustainability requirements on market access. The senior economist should be familiar with life-cycle analysis. This position will work closely with ASA's partners to co-lead research and project oversight on biofuels issues. Responsibilities include bringing stakeholders together on shared goals, developing desired outcomes, and ensuring projects/workflows from stakeholders are successfully executed to completion. This position will report to the chief economist and will interact with ASA team in St. Louis and Washington, D.C., along with ASA affiliates and partner organizations.

What we need from you:
- Possess knowledge of agricultural and biofuel production and markets.
- Experience running indirect land use change models such as GTAP, GLOBIOM or GCAM.
- Familiarity with life-cycle analysis and land use change methodology.
- Leadership experience in collaborative project management demonstrates an ability to take initiative for projects, work successfully with diverse stakeholders, and organize processes to ensure outcomes.
- Proven proficiency to lead, communicate and interact with various colleagues and groups in a collaborative manner that builds consensus with stakeholder voices heard and empowered.
- Translate project outcomes into information that can be used to inform policy.
- Ability to effectively work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with commitment to deadlines.
- Master's or PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Statistics or other relevant field preferred.
- Ten or more years of experience in relevant positions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong ability to conduct data analysis.
- Experience with data analysis languages such as R, Python, or Stata.
- Ability to travel and attend industry events relevant for projects.
