CPH has an opening in our Sanford, FL location for the following position:

Senior Electrical Designer with 6+ years of experience in commercial and industrial design. This position may be eligible for hybrid flexibility.

Job Description:

The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for developing and coordinating electrical designs for various types of projects. This role involves creating detailed drawings and documentation, performing electrical calculations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet project requirements and codes. The Senior Electrical designer have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.

Duties Include:
  • Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Prepare detailed drawings such as single-line diagrams, panel schedules, power plans, lighting plans, and installation details.
  • Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, breaker sizing, conduit and wire sizing, voltage drop, and fault current.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure design integration across systems.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Research and specify commercially available equipment to meet project requirements for electrical systems.
  • Interact with clients to understand project needs and address design issues or changes.
  • Help manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and provide suggestions to improve design processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience designing and implementing electrical systems for commercial, industrial and/or municipal facilities.
  • Electrical building systems design and/or knowledge of construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and BIM environments, such as Revit.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards relevant to project requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD , Revit) for electrical designs.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, standards, and codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software's platforms.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated.
