JOB OVERVIEW
Perform electrical engineering in the research, development, and design of new conventional and intelligent medical device products and services. Responsible for contributions to all phases of product from conception through routine production, including:

  • defining design requirements
  • digital and analog circuit design
  • testing circuits and systems
  • design documentation
  • verification and validation
  • support for safety certification
  • failure analysis
  • production support

ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES
General Engineering Aspects:
  • Related engineering support for quality assurance, production, sales, and marketing
  • Participate in/lead cross-functional engineering teams in new product
  • Work with ERP system to create item cards, BOM's, routers
  • Purchasing, planning, and support during product introduction
  • Design for manufacturing and production support to transitioning new products into production including writing assembly instructions and providing operator training.
  • Perform failure analysis of returned product to determine root-cause and corrective actions
  • Participate in or lead the definition of product/design requirements and system architecture
  • Advise management of new developments and technology in the medical device field and their application in new products and services.
  • Project planning including deliverables, resource utilization, and completion dates
  • Write user manuals
  • Find and select components and component vendors
  • Support obsolete component replacement for legacy designs
  • Design and engineering support for modifying existing products into OEM applications and support for existing OEM customers.
  • Technical sales support for OEM customers.

Electrical Engineering Aspects:
  • Digital and analog electrical engineering in the design and development of new products
  • Design electronic circuits and PCB layout using EDA development tools (Altium preferred).
  • Embedded software development / testing
  • Thermal management design / testing
  • Electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical prototyping and testing
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in the field of Electrical Engineering (minimum)
  • Technical project leadership with an ability for capacity planning, budgeting, and providing direction for junior engineers.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of medical device technologies, including optics, imaging systems, or surgical equipment.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Innovative approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a results-based environment.
  • Five (5) + plus years of related experience in the design of electro-mechanical devices
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, able to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Strong electrical/electronic background including the ability to read schematics, breadboard electrical and electronic systems, EMI containment/suppression, design and implementation of ballasts, power supplies, fuses, circuit breakers, and wiring harnesses
