Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Cabin Interior to be a key contributor to a world-class Interior Components and Systems Engineering team. This role will focus on designing and developing industry-leading interior components, delivering exceptional luxury, craftsmanship, performance, safety, ergonomics, and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Lead the packaging, design, release, and launch of vehicle interior components and systems.
- Create innovative and high-quality designs for interior hard trim, soft trim, instrument panels (IP), door trims, consoles, headliners, and other interior subsystems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, packaging, and vehicle engineering, ensuring a balanced vehicle-level integration.
- Work closely with interior trim suppliers to guarantee technical excellence and timely delivery.
- Develop and apply effective engineering tools and methods to advance product development.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of technical specifications, component feasibility, timelines, and product launch execution.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience leading development of interior components and systems.
- Proven expertise with one or more of the following: hard trim, soft trim, IPs, door trims, consoles, headliners, or related systems.
- Strong understanding of industry benchmarks, trends, and interior supplier competencies.
- Experience with CAD (preferably CATIA V5/V6) for developing 2D/3D designs, packaging layouts, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) studies.
- Hands-on experience with product launch activities and problem-solving during development.
Preferred Skills
- Full program cycle experience from concept through production launch.
- Strong knowledge of plastic parts design, structural performance, craftsmanship, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in material selection, plastic injection molding processes, and GD&T application.
- Practical, hands-on approach combined with strong theoretical fundamentals.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration across multiple teams and functions.
- Passion for delivering world-class interior systems with attention to detail and customer satisfaction.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
