Impact you'll make:
Senior Engineering Manager - Steam Turbine & HRSG Project Engineering provides leadership through technical project management, technical direction and coordination of engineering activities for all assigned Steam Turbine projects and critical issue resolution for OTR related ST & HRSG issues. This role owns the project execution and leadership activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Providing continuous improvement leadership and operational leadership as single point contact for all customer technical inquiries, questions and communications for ST & HRSG project engineering
  • Driving lessons learned back into the design engineering organizations to avoid repeating issues
  • Supporting resolution of cross-functional design complexities and working to resolve technical issues
  • Mitigate Engineering Budget and providing quarterly Estimate at Completions (EACs) to Finance
  • Providing technical guidance to other Project Engineers within the organization
  • Carrying out special assignments which apply to procedures, cost reductions, continuous improvements, new features, forms, preparation, etc. as assigned
  • Leading efforts to create and implement improved business processes.
  • Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects. Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors
  • Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or a High School Diploma/ GED with 14 years of Steam Turbine engineering experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Project Engineering, Design Engineering, and/or Field Engineering related to Steam Turbine Projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customer facing role / experience
  • Leadership-quality communication skills, both verbal and written


Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be able to work 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY or Windsor, CT (occasional hybrid exception possible)
  • Relocation assistance only considered from within the USA
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required


Desired Characteristics
  • Ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with GTCC - Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving capability
  • Experience and/or knowledge of steam or plant system design, engineering, manufacture, assembly, installation and/or testing
  • Continuous process improvement mindset
  • Demonstration and adherence to GE Behaviors
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.


For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, The base pay range for this position is $131,700.00 - $219,300.00 per year.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
