The Opportunity

The Environmental Assessment and Stewardship Branch has an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Assessment Administrator in its Environmental Assessment unit. The unit is responsible for delivering the province's results-based environmental assessment program.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Assessment, the successful candidate will play a leading role in the administration of The Environmental Assessment Act , including:

  • providing advice to industry clients regarding the legal and policy requirements of environmental assessments in Saskatchewan;
  • leading the inter-ministerial and inter-governmental reviews of proposed projects, including the coordination of public and Indigenous participation in the environmental assessment process;
  • developing recommendations regarding the environmental acceptability of major resource, industrial and public sector projects proposed in Saskatchewan; and
  • identifying and developing strategies to manage emerging and ongoing environmental assessment issues.


Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • knowledge of environmental assessment and protection principles, processes and legislation;
  • experience with developing, evaluating and implementing solutions to resolve environmental protection issues;
  • the ability to clearly and accurately discuss and explain complex technical/scientific ecosystem issues, policies, procedures to diverse groups at a level appropriate to the audience;
  • the ability to accurately and concisely compose technical reports, briefing notes, general correspondence and legal documents;
  • critical research, analytical, project management and strategy development skills to deliver program activities; and
  • the ability to independently organize duties, determine and adjust priorities to complete tasks and meet objectives in a multitasking environment.


Typically, the competencies required for this position would be gained through a post-secondary or graduate degree in environmental studies, engineering, the social or natural sciences or a related discipline supplemented with considerable related experience.
