TITLE: Senior Mechanical Estimator
REPORTS TO: Director of Pre-Construction & Estimating

The HVAC estimator is responsible for preparing estimates with the Arizona Area pre-construction team. Assist sales team with business operations in Arizona via maintaining and fostering strong relationships with a select customers, assist sales team members' technical and project estimating capabilities.

Estimating / Pre-Construction Services:
  • Capability and understanding of estimating mechanical piping systems.
  • Capability and understanding of estimating prime contracting mechanical retrofit projects including electrical and structural trades.
  • Projects range from conceptual budgets, plan and spec projects, owner direct design build projects and special projects as defined.
  • Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Reviews equipment selections and confirms proper site surveys are completed on design build, owner direct, and prime projects.
  • Identifies risk issues and their order of magnitude on design build projects to include voltages and fitment.
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing.
  • Prepares instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required.
  • Provide complete mechanical estimates including material and labor take-offs, equipment quotes, subcontractor quotes, and written proposals.
  • Perform On-Screen Computer Generated Take-offs for Sheetmetal and Hydronic Piping Systems.
  • Attend job walks and site visits for select customers or in support of various pre-construction services proposals/projects
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with Managers, Sales & Pre-Con Staff, operations persons, and other administrative team members.
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information & pricing
  • Prepare conceptual budgets based on minimal information
  • Reviews general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as required
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design teams, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company's core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations
  • Provide needed information to other departments and management to ensure jobs are completed on time, within budget, contractually compliant [Cooperative Purchasing], and fulfilling customer expectations
  • Complete Quality Assurance analysis on projects to prevent call backs and warranty work
  • Attend weekly Sales/Pre-Con Coordination Meetings as required


Sales and Marketing:
  • Foster and build positive customer relationships with a select number of organizations via frequent visits and interactions with all levels of organizational facilities decision makers
  • Prepare and present professional and highly accurate proposals that provide clear technical solutions, financial viability, and overall cost savings.
  • Understand select clients services needs and requirements ensuring timely response to all requirements.
  • Attend periodic marketing events, conferences, and tradeshows to promote company capabilities and foster customer relationships.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all existing cooperative purchasing and organizational specific contracts and other procurement tools to maximize efficient project delivery
  • Communicate customer perceptions by gathering customer feedback and sharing information with project/field managers and sales team.
  • Initiate new projects with architects, engineers, owners, and general contractors
  • Assist in the sales process as needed to include initial customer introductions or various meetings to propose a specific project.


Other:
  • Key resource to maintain and enhance quality across all existing lines of business
  • Provide vital input to management as needed to assess and recommend expansion into new lines of business
  • Furnish specialized mentorship and guidance to designated areas of the business and personnel as requested by management
  • Maintain credentials and certifications via continuing education to advance and institutionalize industry best practices


Continuing Development:
  • Research and maintain technological excellence in the mechanical trade
  • Initiate suggestions for company-wide process improvements


Pay Range: $95,000 - $115,000 per year
