Senior Exploration Geologist

POSITION OVERVIEW: Senior Exploration Geologist

Reports to the Technical Services Manager and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the safe and environmentally responsible operation of exploration project generation, design and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure environmental procedures are in place and followed.
• Ensure proper community relations (land, permitting, archaeological issues).
• Ensure all proposals are consistent with company strategy (size and types of deposits, etc)
• Prepare and assist in preparation of annual budget material.
• Complete geologic mapping, geologic data compilation/ synthesis and interpretation, drill target recommendation, drill program design and management, core and RC chip logging. Responsible for following drill budget and tracking costs to report monthly.
• Supervise Staff and contract geologists, Geo-technicians.
• Review and provide feedback on all technical and project proposals and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Ensure projects have clear and appropriate decision points and that they are adhered to.
• Conduct project field visits: prior to start up for planning, during the project on a regular basis and post project for closure verification.
• Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Ensure adequate quality control procedures are in place and adhered to.
• Has an understanding of land package and assists in keeping leases current working with the corporate land department.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or other related field.
• 10 to 15 years of experience in Geology.
• Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office, Vulcan, Leapfrog, Arc GIS or other relevant software.
• Strong technical knowledge in a wide range of geology, engineering, and geotechnical concepts and principles
• Collaborative work skills to interact with other site departments (safety, environmental, operations, etc.)
• Experience in managing all phases of an exploration drilling program.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, required.
• Excellent safety record, required.
• Strong computer skills, required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, required
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position, required.
