Beem Credit Union is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to support Beem's overall Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function by performing a variety of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting tasks, ensuring financial performance is accurately and effectively monitored at different levels across the credit union. What you'll do:
Budget & Forecast
- Support (and lead where required) the annual budget process and business plan process
- Collaborate with other Finance and relevant corporate teams to collect and synthesize financial data
- Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of budgeting, forecasting, planning, and modeling tools and processes
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Provide insights into both revenue and expense areas through variance and trend analyses and recommend actions to improve financial performance
- Conduct profitability analysis and monitor profitability on multiple dimensions of the business
- Research and analyze financial data for regulatory or compliance reporting
- Lead monthly financial reviews with department leaders
- Maintain awareness of developments in the economic environment, assess the implications to Beem, and incorporate into analysis and forecasting as appropriate
- Conduct scenario planning to evaluate the financial impact of various business decisions and external factors
- Support financial KPIs; recommend and implement performance metrics
Financial Modeling
- Assist with development and maintenance of financial models (eg. Budget, project, business case models) to support Beem's strategic goals
Special Projects & Collaboration
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of practices and processes to promote operational efficiency
- Participate in and/or lead finance projects to support best-in-class solutions for Finance and FP&A activities, performance measurement, and portfolio analysis to support Beem's organizational goals
- Develop strong working relationships with department leaders to assist them in achieving the organizational strategic and financial priorities
- Create visually captivating PowerPoint presentations to enable clear messaging of financial data
- Support strategic organizational projects and contributes as FP&A subject matter expert
- Collaborate with Finance teams and other stakeholders to ensure smooth processes and trusting relationships
- Provide mentorship/leadership to financial analysts and/or other finance staff in budget and financial analysis duties
A little about your qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or CFA accreditation, or approaching completion
- 4-6 years' experience in a similar role; experience in a credit union or financial institution is a strong asset
- Solid experience with financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting
- Strong technical (excel, Power Query, Power BI), analytical, and communication skills; experience with FP&A software is a strong asset
- Understanding of IFRS is an asset
- Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
What you'll gain:
- Competitive base salary; reviewed annually. The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $94,000.
