The applicable base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $176,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

- The Senior Government Consultant I will help lead complex projects with Mercer Government's clients.
- Our clients are primarily State Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies and related state agencies responsible for Medicaid and CHIP fee-for-service and managed care programs.
- Responsibilities of this role include providing project leadership, team management, and vendor oversight.

- Guide a team to completion of specific projects. Be responsible for leading, motivating, and encouraging team members.
- Manage project team dynamics. Nurture collaboration amongst team members.
- Identify client needs, bring sufficient staff and resources to a project, and monitor overall project implementation.
- Work closely with the overall Project Leader, to track and document day-to-day milestones.
- Drive action and decision-making.
- Take the lead/ownership and be accountable to proactively lead the team.
- Follow protocols for quality assurance.
- Develop innovative strategies to resolve project challenges and to manage client expectations effectively.
- Monitor project scope, budget, and timelines closely.
- Communicate progress and results and facilitate discussions with team members and clients to resolve issues timely and to achieve project results.
- Provide real time feedback to team members to support their growth and to maintain quality performance.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business, health policy, public policy, health management, public health or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in working with Medicaid in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing and leading complex, multidisciplinary projects and navigating challenging situations
- Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to working within a team and demonstrated experience in building relationships and team/people development
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as presenting information to clients/groups
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple project deadlines
- Critical thinking skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
What makes you stand out?

- Six Sigma credentials
- Subject matter expertise in aspects of Medicaid managed care (e.g., policy, clinical, quality, pharmacy, operations, information systems)
- Experience working on external quality review (EQR) projects or as part of an external quality review organization (EQRO)
- Experience working within a State Medicaid or other state agency responsible for managing public health care services
- Experience working within a Managed Care Organization
- Experience with CMS, either through employment or direct interaction (e.g., waiver negotiation)
- Experience working with Medicaid actuaries
