Job Summary:

The Senior HR Generalist position at Milton's Distributing is responsible for directly supporting the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources (HR) department and providing overall HR service delivery to our most important asset: our employees. This is a true generalist position that acts as both a business partner, subject matter expert, and is involved in all functional areas of HR including, but not limited to: recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee engagement and communications, employee relations, facilitation of leaves and worker comp activity, benefits consultation, performance management, policy advice and development, training and development, HR compliance, and HRIS. We are seeking a bi-lingual, people-oriented HR professional who is comfortable working in a non-structured setting, but also adept in helping develop the necessary structure. This is an onsite position and is full-time, regular, exempt position and is eligible for full benefits.

Essential Functions:
  • HR Business Partnership: Collaborate with key stakeholders (Directors and Managers) to ensure effective HR business consultation. Provide ongoing support to align talent with organizational goals. Effective partnerships should enhance organizational efficiency, foster a positive work environment, enable career development, and contribute to the overall success of the company.


  • Recruiting and Onboarding: process ownership of the recruitment and onboarding processes. Independently partner and communicate with hiring managers and candidates to match strategy to talent and fill open jobs timely.


  • Engagement and Event Planning: Organize and plan employee engagement events. Own the annual engagement calendar and ensure all activities are appropriately planned and executed in an effort aimed at keeping our workforce engaged.


  • Internal Communications: Maintain internal communication boards to effectively communicate important and entertaining information to keep our employees informed and engaged.


  • Performance Management: Facilitate performance management programs including keeping everyone informed to our annual cycle, advising managers and employees to support the process, and consult and partner with managers to enable the disciplinary process if appropriate.


  • Employee Relations: Working in collaboration with sr. leadership, lead and conduct investigations related to employee relations, maintain documentation based on accepted legal standards, and recommend courses of action to Chief People Officer.


  • Training and Development: Design, research, facilitate and/or enable employee development and training. Establish an annual training calendar and work with teams to ensure good attendance. Facilitate and recommend utilizing online training tools.


  • Workers' compensation and leaves of absence: Partnering internally with payroll and other managers, take actions as responsible party tied to certain operational tasks, i.e., investigating incidents, communicating with employees and managers, planning staffing levels with managers, etc. Work with payroll to ensure we are appropriately tracking the claims.


  • Continuous Improvement: Continue sustainable and scalable process development and implement a continuous improvement mindset to enhance existing processes.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience required, Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of general, applicable HR experience and genuine interest in supporting all functional areas of HR are required.
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience required.
  • Previous experience in warehousing, transportation, supply chain, and logistics is highly preferred.
  • Experience with workers compensation and leave of absences.
  • Experience navigating issues related to employee relations or performance.
  • Good business acumen to translate HR actions to economic impact.

Required Skills:
  • Fluency in communicating (both verbal and written) in both English and Spanish languages is required. Comfortable with public speaking as we need this position to help communicate important messages to our diverse employee population.
  • Strong written, communication, project and time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively take a project from ideation through execution - managing timelines, resources, expectations, and deliverables.
  • Highly Proficient with MS Office products (especially Excel) and other application software applications such as HRIS platforms (ADP) applicant tracking systems, and benefit administration systems.
  • The ability to independently lead and manage smaller ad hoc events on their own with limited supervision.
  • Able to communicate concepts and details across internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects from ideation through to completion.
  • The ability to think strategically and resourcefully to develop new and creative lead generation ideas.
  • Highly professional; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Ability to adapt to a growing and shifting ambiguous environment and handle competing priorities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires some travel to other locations in the organization.
