WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Senior IT Specialist will provide 24x7x365 support to the Montgomery County Maryland Public Safety Data Systems (PSDS) environment. This is a critical position that provides direct support for the County's 911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile Data Systems, and supporting interfaces. The position will need to possessa strong sense of operational awareness and be able to troubleshoot hardware, software, networks, databases, operating systems, and security issues. The candidate will have strong communication and triage skill to work with multiple county agencies and vendors. This position requires after-hour support in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Five (5) years of information technology experience in large-scale enterprise applications, providing advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance across various hardware and software platforms.

Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. For applicants possessing very hard to find skills which are a critical need to the department/agency, training and certification may be accepted in lieu of full degree requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
Major Duties Include:
- Provide 24x7 support to Montgomery County agencies in their duty to provide the latest reliable Information Technology architectures for Public Safety.
- The position requires a complete understanding of Information Systems standards and vulnerability mitigation within an Enterprise environment.
- Solid working knowledge of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
- Collaborate with end users at all levels in a professional manner, to design and deliver customer-oriented services.
- Desktop support and troubleshooting skills to resolve system and application issues.
- Identify security threats, and threat levels, and develop mitigation plans while developing and implementing security and compliance policies.
- Monitor, evaluate, and resolve system and application issues in the Public Safety architecture.
