Description:

BSA LifeStructures is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Interior Designer to serve as the Interiors Lead based in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will provide leadership in interior design and project planning, taking charge of complex initiatives while fostering meaningful client engagement.

What You'll Do:
  • Focus on improving project outcomes - client satisfaction, design leadership, overall quality, staff engagement/communication and project profitability
  • Apply core processes, design tools, project management systems, and technology to ensure consistent and high-quality project delivery across the team
  • Develop an optimal design solution for the project that meets client's needs and represents the company's standard quality of design
  • Ensure client's vision is met through design, function and detailed drawings
  • Manage the Interior Design studio as a business while cultivating a supportive and collaborative workplace. Prioritize staff supervision, communication, and organizational consistency to create a resilient and adaptable team
  • Identify and prioritize initiatives that advance knowledge and skills, such as training programs and team meetings. Regularly monitor business metrics-such as utilization, profitability, and revenue projections-and collaborate with Finance to establish solid contracts and set achievable fees
  • Instill accountability in project staffing, delivery, and client relationships, empowering your team to take ownership of their work
  • Partner with design leaders to elevate the quality of design on all projects, leveraging innovative design technologies and fostering creative solutions
  • Collaborate with leadership to review studio capacity, client expectations, feedback, and backlog, while working together to pursue new opportunities and deliver outstanding services.
  • Mentor and support team members, sharing lessons learned and fostering discussions around design quality, project challenges, and improvement opportunities. Evaluate team strengths and weaknesses to help the Director develop an annual hiring plan

Education and Experience:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from a CIDA Accredited Program
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in the design industry including construction documentation and field observation
    • Experience with projects focused on Healthcare, Higher Education and/or Lab Design preferred
    • Prior experience leading and managing a team is highly valued
  • Professional Licensure/Certifications: NCIDQ Certification required
  • Software Skills: Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam; Microsoft Windows envrionment; Graphic Software: InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Enscape
