The ideal candidate will be passionate about both providing exceptional service desk leadership and who possesses strong experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration, working closely with other senior IT staff and leadership for ongoing development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
IT Systems Administration & Support
- Provide senior-level expertise in the administration and maintenance of IT systems, including servers, networks, and cloud-based environments.
- Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues within the IT systems administration team and service desk.
Team Leadership & Guidance
- Support and mentor IT Systems Administrators, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance when needed.
- Ensure the team has the tools, resources, and knowledge necessary to effectively support the service desk and system administration tasks.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, promoting professional growth and development.
Collaboration with Senior IT Staff
- Work closely with other senior-level IT staff to ensure smooth integration of systems and alignment of infrastructure projects with organizational goals.
- Act as a secondary point of contact for liaison responsibilities, working to integrate IT systems with other departments effectively.
Service Desk & IT Systems Oversight
- Provide support to the IT Systems Administrator(s) in overseeing the service desk team and ensuring that service requests and incidents are being handled efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the IT Systems Administrator(s) and the IT infrastructure team to ensure any infrastructure issues impacting the service desk are quickly addressed.
- Ensure that all IT systems support processes align with the best practices for service delivery and user satisfaction.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all systems and services are in compliance with security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with security teams to monitor, assess, and address security risks across the IT systems landscape.
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect critical infrastructure from internal and external threats.
Project Support & Implementation
- Support the implementation of new infrastructure projects, ensuring smooth deployment, integration, and ongoing system stability.
- Provide expertise during the evaluation and deployment of new technologies, ensuring they align with organizational requirements.
Cross-Departmental Coordination
- Serve as a key point of contact for technical issues, working with other departments to understand IT needs and ensure solutions are provided in line with business objectives.
- Help facilitate communication between IT and other departments to ensure project deadlines and priorities are met.
- Process Optimization & Documentation:
- Develop and maintain documentation on system configurations, processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Drive continuous improvement of IT processes, identifying areas for increased efficiency and better service delivery.
Budget & Resource Management Support
- Support the management of IT budgets, assisting in resource allocation, and tracking expenditures for systems administration and service desk operations.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Handle other IT-related tasks and projects as needed to support the organization's IT infrastructure needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration, with proven expertise in managing systems and supporting IT infrastructure.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience providing guidance to other team members and service desk staff.
- Extensive experience in troubleshooting complex IT issues and providing senior-level support for systems administration and service desk functions.
- Expertise in a wide range of IT systems, including servers, networking, cloud services, and infrastructure management.
- Experience with systems management tools, monitoring solutions, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with project management processes and IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience managing security across IT infrastructure.
- Expertise in communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as NIST, CIS, or GDPR would be considered an asset
- Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile) or similar experience.
- Background working in or with cross-functional teams to integrate IT solutions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Moderate sitting, standing, and walking are required as part of this role
- Moderate physical effort required to successfully accomplish the essential job functions, such as keyboarding to word process documents, enter data into database etc.
- Moderate mental effort required to successfully accomplish the essential job functions such as providing information, resolving discrepancies, etc.
- Full-time position with a mix of office-based and remote work flexibility, depending on the needs of the department and ongoing projects.
- Occasional travel may be required based on project demands or team needs.
