In This Role, You Will
- Develop an understanding of Black Stone's complex acquisition background while calculating royalty and working interests.
- Lead and be responsible for Black Stone's Eastern U.S. assets with a primary focus in Louisiana.
- Assist in the preparation and management of drafting PSAs, JOAs, ADAs, leases/subleases, curative and other related land documents.
- Promote leasing activity on Black Stone using industry contacts, presentation and marketing materials, and networking.
- Assist in handling incoming AFEs in assigned regional area in accordance with Black Stone's AFE handling procedures.
- Identify new organic growth opportunities and work with technical teams to evaluate and pursue each opportunity.
- Research and analyze land related documents and contracts with respect to drilling, production, and operations information, such as depths held by production, continuous development obligations and critical activity dates.
- Work closely with the engineering, geology, and land administration departments as needed.
- Collaborate with GIS and IT departments to generate maps in monitoring project status and reporting to management.
- Review and verify Land Technician recommendations on monthly expiration, obligation and payment reports while providing management with additional information and recommendations if missing.
- Mentor less experienced Landmen in analyzing lease provisions and negotiating leases.
What We Require
- A Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management, preferred
- At least 10 years of progressively more responsible landman experience, including a minimum of 5 to 7 years of Louisiana experience.
- Experience in Quorum software, preferred.
- CPL Certification, preferred.
- Solid understanding of US Mineral and surface ownership principles including regulatory, title and curative documents.
- Positive attitude working in a fast-paced environment.
- System savvy and ability to work with different applications and databases.
- Ability to plan and organize workload, adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure with minimum supervision.
- Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships in a small team environment as well as with external parties
- Bring a positive team player attitude that is dependable and committed to the objectives given.
