The Department of Mechanical Engineering inside the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Clemson University invites applications to fill multiple full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. Candidates with extensive practice and expertise in mechanical engineering may be considered for the rank of Professor of Practice. Highly desirable candidates will have an expertise and interest in teaching fundamental mechanical engineering courses with an emphasis in one of the broad subject areas of design, solid mechanics, thermal and fluid sciences, or dynamic systems and controls. The positions will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually, and with promotion to Senior Lecturer after four years of excellent performance. Primary duties include teaching up to four courses, or equivalent, per semester and actively contributing to the undergraduate teaching mission of the department. In addition, part-time positions may be available. Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree or possess a Master's degree with at least 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. The candidates must have a passion for teaching and communication skills to motivate over 50 students per class in a dynamic, interactive environment with an ability to effectively engage students learning in person and in a remote environment using virtual technology platforms. The ME Department has over 30 tenure-track/tenured faculty and 8 full-time non-tenure-track faculty. Enrollment in ME includes 1,100 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. Clemson University is a public, land-grant institution classified as a R1 university by the Carnegie Foundation. The campus is located on the shores of Lake Hartwell in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina halfway between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
