As a Senior Legal Advisor on the Litigation and Dispute Prevention/Resolution team at Pomerleau Construction, you are a lawyer-litigator looking to join a litigation practice without having to say goodbye to litigation practices before judges, arbitrators or mediators. Supporting large-scale construction projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you will act for Pomerleau and its subsidiaries.

What You Will Do

  • Support and advise management and project management teams of ongoing construction projects on strategic and legal issues.
  • Draft or revise documents to be transmitted during project execution, including, but not limited to, notices of claim, dispute, and mediation/arbitration.
  • Analyze litigation files to develop theory of case and legal strategy.
  • Initiate and conduct disputes and litigation, including: Drafting pleadings, conducting examinations, reviewing expert reports, preparing hearing briefs and pleading before judicial, administrative or arbitration tribunals, as required.
  • Conduct settlement discussions, including settlement conferences and mediation sessions.
  • Occasionally coordinate and collaborate with external legal counsel.
  • Any other related tasks concerning legal issues affecting the operations of the company and its subsidiaries.


This role could be for you if you have

  • Bachelor's degree in law and membership in the Quebec Bar.
  • 7 to 9+ years' experience in litigation (including construction law).
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Strong legal argumentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Perfect command of French and very good command of English.
  • Good knowledge of relevant computer tools and software, including the Microsoft Office suite and jurisprudence search engines.
  • Demonstrated judgment, initiative, leadership, autonomy, versatility, and team spirit.
  • Solution-oriented analytical mind.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
  • Exceptional travel may be required.
