This position leads a large team of experienced accounting professionals or team leaders, overseeing general accounting processes such as financial reporting, inter-company cash, cash management, government accounting, project accounting, and / or balance sheet management. Develops and maintains accounting principles and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. We are seeking a talented, driven individual to lead and manage our accounting and finance operations for the Wilson, NC site, ensure high standards on internal controls, and partner with key stakeholders to make critical decisions that drive impact within our business. This position will work closely with the Controller for the overall Kidde business as well as the site lead to ensure the accounting function meets best practices, that reporting is accurate and timely, and that the organization and senior leadership teams are well-supported by the Finance Team. This position fosters communication and knowledge between our domestic and international sites as well as with our strategic business unit within the broader Collins Aerospace business of Avionics, serving as an advocate for both. The ideal candidate will be a persistent self-starter who is excited to support a cross-functional team. You will be a consummate communicator and provide insights that will enable senior management to make decisions on the direction of the Company.

What You Will Do:
  • Leads a team of experienced accountants and manages large-scale projects and activities for a medium-sized organization. Responsible for selection, training, development, mentorship, retention, and recommendations and/or decisions regarding various employee matters such as performance, salaries, and terminations. Develops and communications team objectives; inspires and motivates team members to achieve results.
  • Oversees and manages general ledger preparation (including monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts), government accounting activities, and/or projects, to assure timely completion and accuracy of accounting activities.
  • Develops and maintains accounting principles and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Responsible for internal controls adherence and auditing
  • Ensures accounting policies, procedures and controls for all the projects and financial statements are in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversees the preparation and presentation of management reports and / or corporate reporting requirements, to ensure integrity of information and keep management updated on key information.
  • Monitors budget and forecast activity in order to track the organization's budgets and ensure that budgets are maintained.
  • Develops, directs, plans and evaluates accounting policies and procedures including cost accounting, general accounting, and statutory accounting, as applicable.
  • Manages the planning and direction of accounting activities, including the maintenance of the ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions, including coordination and administration of assignments.
  • Oversees monthly financial closing processes, adhering to strict closing deadlines.
  • Conducts or assists in the documentation of cost, government and project accounting in addition to attending to financial reporting.
  • Negotiates and advises on collection of overdue bills and takes appropriate action to recover overdue payments.
  • Coordinates credit review, collection of unpaid bills, and fraud investigations either internally or through an outsourced service.
  • Manages and investigates tax, consolidation, and close data.
  • Investigates and manages intercompany, holding company and fixed asset accounting.
  • Assists with annual operating and capital budgeting processes as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • At least 6 years knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, graphs/charts, etc.) and Power Point
  • Experience using a large ERP system

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
