Position Overview:
The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for the review of monthly financial reports and analysis, as well as quarterly schedules that support financial data disclosed to the public. The Senior Manager, Accounting is also responsible for managing the month-end close process, providing significant contributions (planning, coordination, implementation, etc.) toward change initiative projects, and managing/ developing the accounting team members.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger and Financial Reporting
  • Manage the overall month-end close process to meet the Company's reporting deadline.
  • Review accounting workpapers, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and approve journal entries for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Create and maintain accounting policies and processes. Ensure appropriate internal controls are adhered to.
  • Review quarterly SEC reporting schedules and disclosures in related functional areas.
  • Perform accounting research and formally document the conclusions of management

Other Responsibilities
  • Manage and coach members of the accounting team for career development and to accomplish the Company's/Department's objectives.
  • Lead accounting projects to maximize efficiency and speed up close; Serve as a key member in new country implementation and create country-specific processes.
  • Actively involved in system implementation and upgrades, including Yardi and other relevant software.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors on various accounting topics and special projects.
  • Frequently work with internal and external auditors to comply with SEC and SOX requirements, as well as foreign entity local reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate is typically expected to have:
  • 6+ years of experience in industry and/or public accounting, preferably with real estate industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
  • Must have a clear and thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of financial statements.
  • Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet public company reporting deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

What you will get in return:

The base salary for this role is in the range of $116,055 - $162,265

You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
