Description:

The Distribution Manager leads all activities related to distribution at the Dorval site. He manages all aspects of receiving, replenishment, shipping as well as customer returns and product destruction for the Canadian and International markets. He is also responsible for the Inventory management, control and accuracy.

He manages improvement projects for activities related to the Dorval Distribution centre. In collaboration with members of the other distribution sites, Customer Service and the various Pharmascience departments, he monitors the results of operational objectives and key success factors, controls distribution costs, controls inventories for his distribution centre and promotes appropriate actions to correct discrepancies.

The manager also ensures that internal and external customer concerns are handled professionally

Responsabilities & duties

General tasks :

  • Identifies objectives and ensures that the necessary tools are provided to achieve them
  • Responsible for the integrity of the Distribution Center's inventory and the inventory accuracy of our 3PL partners.
  • Develops and maintains an environment that meets quality requirements and ensures that GMP requirements are met.
  • Makes sure to respect and enforce the SOPs in his sector of activity
  • Works with other Pharmascience warehouses to ensure consistency on best practices.
  • Analyzes operational and budget statistics and implements corrective measures to reach the operational objectives.
  • Analyses statistics at inventory levels and communicates inventory results regularly to the different departments. Ensures that corrective actions are taken to maintain proper inventory level and accurate inventory.
  • Identifies the opportunities for improvement and the risks, develops and implements new methods to be more efficient in his operations and in controlling the costs of distribution, transportation and customer service while providing superior service to his internal and external clients.
  • Initiates or participates in multidisciplinary projects with an impact on its sector.
  • Plans financial and human resources effectively to achieve objectives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as well as projects that require his expertise
  • Acts as a resource person for regulatory and financial audits
  • Perform at the request of his superior, all other tasks related to his field of activity


Health & safety :

  • Participates in the health and safety committee and related activities.
  • Identifies needs, issues action plans to maintain a safe environment, promotes health and safety in the workplace, enforces company and CNESST regulations and suggests improvement measures.
  • Follows up on correctives measures and assesses the results obtained.


Specific tasks related to employee management :

  • Hires staff under his authority, manages and evaluates their performance
  • Develops his team's potential and versatility.
  • Identifies training needs and develops training plans with resource persons for his team and plans financial requirements to support training.
  • Involves and coaches employees who report directly to him in problem solving to maintain good working relationships and motivates them to go the extra mile in achieving results by promoting continuous improvement.
  • Regularly communicates the operational results of the distribution centre.
  • Plans and anticipates staffing needs to support company growth
  • Encourage teamwork, team spirit and collaboration between the different sectors of distribution and the other departments
