General Summary
The Senior Manager, FTTH Engineering is responsible for managing a production workforce generating Fiber to the Home construction deliverables, comprised of a mixture of internal employees and vendor contractors. This position is responsible for ensuring high quality design outputs that are acceptable by the various jurisdictions where fiber will be built, as well as timely, on-budget delivery of these key deliverables. This includes high level and low-level design as well as providing quality control for designs performed by contractors. This position is a primary member of a multi-disciplined team that creates FTTH and fixed wireless networks solutions end to end. This individual manages multiple projects and team members against specific timelines and utilizes strong organizational and communication skills to identify project dependencies and complete deliverables throughout fiber construction lifecycle.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement metrics, processes, and procedures to successfully institute high quality designs, reducing errors and improving time to market.
- Coordinate resources across various internal and external teams
- Plan budgets and track financial life cycles of a project
- Develop and maintain existing and new systems necessary to manage scope, cost and schedule
- Work closely in a stylistically flat organization to implement changes and improvements in an expedient manner
- Understand overall project requirements, priorities and goals, risk management, and overall scope of work.
- Manage delivery, through team members and vendors, of plans for construction of new or rearrangement of existing fiber optic cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
- Review legal documentation and identify technical and operational dependencies accurately
- Review high- and low-level designs and associated BOMs completed by contract firms to ensure quality and technical standards are met.
- Identify efficiencies in designs that reduce cost or time to deploy.
- Work with local permitting offices or utility company to understand permitting process and requirements.
- Support submission of permits/make ready engineering through approval.
- Work on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and/or beyond regular work hours due to customer or operational demands, as needed.
- Adhere to all Company standard procedures, policies and safety practices in the course of performing work activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of 8 years planning, deploying, and project managing FTTH networks preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years or more of managerial experience in the telecommunications industry
- Proven experience managing vendors and subcontractors to produce high quality results
- Experience working independently in the field, as well as part of team.
- Must be prompt, reliable, have a sense of urgency, quick thinking.
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Ability to translate information in drawings, blueprints, spreadsheets and as-builts.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn and grow.
Working Conditions
- Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
- Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
