Job Summary:
Provides strategic leadership and guidance over manufacturing operations in a plant in order to achieve business plan targets for safety, quality, productivity, cost and associate morale. Continuously monitors results, seeks continuous improvement and manages resources effectively to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Oversees directly, and through a group of production leaders, the daily production activities of the plant. Provides strategic leadership and direction for multiple areas of plant operations, including Production, Production Engineering, Production Control and Maintenance.
Develops and maintains strong cross functional relationships in order to develop effective organizational planning, goal setting and a culture of continuous improvement through process improvement and by enhancing the skills and abilities of production staff.
Designs short, medium and long-term goals and strategies, procedures and people utilization with an end goal of improving equipment reliability, efficiency, productivity and performance while reducing inventory and waste and also maintaining product quality and operating expenses. Ensures that all developed goals are in alignment with overall organization strategy.
Quantifies and analyzes manufacturing performance, equipment utilization, product quality, people utilization, inventory management, facility setup and efficiency and operating expenses for assigned areas. Identifies current and future equipment and staffing needs.
Researches and implements manufacturing trends such as JIT (just in time), lean manufacturing, IoT, augmented reality, additive manufacturing and others.
Creates and/or approves operating budgets and capital budgets to ensure minimum costs while also ensure maximum plant effectiveness. Manages department expense budget. Participates in the business planning and budgeting process. Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies.
Performs Human Resources activities including tracking of time and attendance, associate counseling, scheduling, evaluating work performance and assisting in skill development.
Assists associates in developing individual G&O's and provides coaching, support and assessment to talent. Identifies potential future leaders within assigned business unit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Extensive experience with production management methodologies (including High Performance and Continuous Improvement) and manufacturing structure. Experience with manual assembly management in an environment requiring high efficiency operation required. Candidates with experience managing operations with short lead time controls such as "direct staging" preferred.
Effective communication and diplomacy skills to guide and lead others
Strong leadership with a demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects
Ability to translate strategy into actionable information and monitor strategy achievement
Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong knowledge of Infor XA (ERP) software
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to create G&Os and monitor achievement
Effectively applies the PDCA process to own work output
Strategic mindset
People management
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business, engineering or manufacturing field,
12+ Years of Related Experience
