Role Summary
As a member of the Public Affairs and Policy team, the Senior Manager of Public Affairs & Policy is a critical role within Corporate Affairs and at Servier. This role provides substantive support for coding, coverage, and reimbursement policies to improve access to Servier therapies in the US. This position reports to the Director, Public Affairs and works collaboratively across Servier including a regular partnership with colleagues in Market Access, Communications, Global, and Regulatory.
The role will be responsible for monitoring and tracking U.S. federal and state policy-related news, legislation, and regulations that impacts Servier business, industry, and patients. This position will act as a representative of Servier at public affairs events ensuring engagement with key policy stakeholders. Primary Responsibilities
- Support developing policy solutions and access strategies for Servier therapies, working on both inline and pipeline therapies and above-brand drug policy issues, including supporting launch teams and business development efforts.
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs team and internal cross-functional partners to direct government affairs, policy, and coverage and reimbursement related initiatives to address evolving federal coverage and reimbursement policy.
- This will include summaries of and implications for regularly scheduled payment and operational rules released by HHS and more specifically, CMS and CMMI.
- Assess short term and long-term impact of proposed policies to Servier's U.S. business and propose and guide policy strategies at both the federal and state level.
- Actively participate in and advocate for Servier's interest in trade association work groups, including BIO, MassBIO, New England Council, and others as needed.
- Support engagements before policymakers and federal agency staff responsible for payment, coverage and reimbursement policy issues.
- Clearly, impactfully, and strategically articulate Servier's positions on assigned policy issues to federal agencies and other external stakeholders under supervision of Policy leadership.
- Accountable for driving US Corporate Social Responsibility strategy in partnership with US and Global Corporate Affairs colleagues.
Education and Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in the field of political science, public policy, health policy, economics, or other related field of study.
- 6+ years of service working and/or comparable education on federal health policy, Medicaid and Medicare issues in government, or with relevant private sector experience
- Consistent record in identifying policy trends affecting the pharmaceutical industry and public health and advancing policy solutions to address potential barriers.
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring patient access to innovative medicines and the importance of a thriving biopharmaceutical industry.
- Experience working with consultants to manage research projects such as regulatory comment letters and agency engagements.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills-demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple work streams.
- Ability to manage numerous, competing priorities under pressure while effectively collaborating with internal partners.
- Deep knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and federal policy, or other comparable experience such as related healthcare policy consulting firm experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of drug pricing, Medicare healthcare coverage and reimbursement environment, and specifically the Inflation Reduction Act.
- Experience in oncology policy, the 340B program, and state prescription drug review board policy is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to analyze policy and regulatory developments to assess business impact.
- Possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise and actionable insights for leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge and understanding of healthcare product development and commercialization.
Travel and Location
- Estimate the amount of travel required: 20%.
- Boston Hybrid 2-3 days a week in office or remote from Washington DC with regular travel to Boston
