About the team you are joining
You willbe reporting to the Senior Principal, IATA Consulting for the Americas regionin direct line with a dotted line to the Principal, Traffic Forecast,Consulting. You will be working alongside a brilliant team of highly talented Consultantsand Subject Matter Experts from diverse culture, backgrounds, andnationalities. The position will be based in in Miami, FL; USA.
The role of the Senior Manager Traffic Forecasting, IATA Consulting, is to
- drive business development initiatives,
- plan and manage consulting engagements,
- contribute to the delivery of those engagements, and
- participate in the life of the Consulting practice.
IATA Consulting Traffic Forecasting offering in scope of the position includes, but is not limited to:
- Air passenger, air cargo, and air traffic movement demand forecasting studies tailored to an airport, province, country, or geographic region.
- Air Services Development studies aimed at identifying potential new air services for an airport or local/national authority.
- Traffic Due Diligence, delivering independent, data-driven traffic forecasts with detailed supporting analysis to substantiate risks, upsides, and market conditions in airport transactions.
- Ad Hoc Market Studies, providing fact-based, data-driven analyses to support aviation market opportunities, policy decisions, and strategic and commercial planning.
The successful candidate is not expected to be proficient in all areas but should have a proven track record working in traffic studies in a consulting environment, including having advised clients in the air transport sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing IATA Consulting traffic forecasting team and benefit from their guidance and methodology.
What your day would be like
You willbe accountable for commercializing and delivering IATA's consulting services focusing on Traffic Forecasting, Air ServiceDevelopment, and Market Studies. Responsibilities will include:
1. Drive business development initiatives related to air travel demand consultancy services:
Monitor the release of consultancy tenders relevant to air travel demand.
Build and nurture relationships with key clients to proactively generate commercial opportunities for IATA Consulting.
Identify and qualify business leads by ascertaining the client's needs, budget, and buying intent, the project's scope and timeline.
Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including bottom-up budgets, using IATA Consulting's guidelines, templates, and leadership team guidance.
Prepare and attend client presentations of those proposals, with support from the leadership team as and when required.
Prepare/Coordinate consulting contracts for those opportunities awarded to IATA Consulting, using IATA Consulting' guidelines, templates, and senior team guidance.
2. Lead and contribute to the delivery of Consulting projects, regionally in the Americas and occasionally elsewhere in the world:
Supervise/coach junior consultants, internal IATA subject matter experts, and/or external subcontractors in their delivery of assigned components of the project.
Contribute your own analysis, research, interviews, workshop facilitation, and written deliverables towards the delivery of the projects, including the development of Excel models and the preparation of PowerPoint presentations or Word reports.
Attend and facilitate client or other stakeholder meetings (e.g., progress meetings, steering committees) as and when required.
3. Perform project management activities on Consulting projects, including:
Ensure adherence to the contractually agreed scope, timeline, and budget.
Manage junior consultants, IATA subject matter experts, and/or external subcontractors who may be assigned the project and ensure their timely and quality contributions to the delivery.
Coordinate the contract variances, project extensions, invoicing milestones, etc. with the IATA Consulting Contract Officer supporting the project.
Report to, and seek advice, guidance, and peer review from senior team members as and when needed to ensure swift progress and sound methodological choices.
Provide quality assurance on the delivery and quality control on the deliverables.
Manage the client relationship and satisfaction in the context of the project, including post-project feedback collection.
Participate and present deliverables in client meetings as required.
4. Contribute to the life of the Consulting practice:
Document each opportunity and project, incl. updating its status in the pipeline, uploading all deliverables to the share library, preparing credentials, seeking formal client feedback, etc. at the end of every assignment to ensure accurate reporting of IATA Consulting's commercial performance over time.
Feedback market intelligence to the Principal in charge of the definition of IATA Consulting's Traffic Forecasting offering.
Follow internal procedures including providing timely self-appraisals, timesheets, expense reports, etc. in accordance with IATA policies and Consulting procedures.
Proactively seek performance feedback and training.
Mentor junior members of the Consulting team as appropriate, conduct their per-project performance appraisals, and participate in the recruitment process as a senior member of the Consulting team.
Contribute to the design and roll-out of new consulting products and services as required.
Note: The incumbent is expected to spend at least 60% of his / her time on project management and delivery.

You possess a University degree (Masters or PhD) in Business Administration, Economics, Air Transport / Airline Management or Aerospace Engineering, or similar degree.
You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant consulting experience working on market studies and traffic forecasting related topics, and have a proven track record of delivering market studies and traffic forecasts related projects in the aviation industry.
You possess a solid knowledge of international aviation.
You are highly proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Ability to use visualization software (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) and use a high-level programming language for data analytics and charting (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
You have a prior experience working on consulting proposals and client presentations in the context of a reputable consulting firm, incl. ability to storyboard and structure hypotheses, observations, findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a client-ready format.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write reports in English and present them to senior executive managers.
Knowledge of Spanish is a definite plus; additional language such as Portuguese an advantage.
You have a strong analytical, first-principle, critical thinking, business-oriented mindset.
You have a valid US work permit.
This is not a remote position, the successful candidate will be required to work three days from the office.
