Position Summary:
Responsible for overall operations of their respective hospital laboratory. The Senior Manager is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan and budget to ensure the high-quality testing services necessary to achieve the business and patient care objectives of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Direct the hospital technical and lab support departments, in concert with CompuNet's mission, vision and values to meet both business objectives and customer expectations, while assuring the timely and economical provision of quality laboratory services.
Determine operating systems, test schedules, work schedules and staffing in coordination with Director of Hospital Lab Operations to provide optimal delivery of services.
Operationalize the management of departmental budgets. Balance marketing needs and operational expenses to assure overall business success.
Coordinate quality assurance activities for technical and lab support areas and facilitate coordination of improvement activities.
With Medical and Technical Directors, develop appropriate technical operations policies (e.g. specimen requirements, establishment of critical value policy, proficiency testing, etc.) consistent with the CompuNet Quality Program to ensure that the laboratory meets the requirements of CLIA '88, CAP and other appropriate governmental and accrediting agencies.
Maintain continual CAP inspection readiness; participate in external CAP inspections as needed.
Oversee the performance of method verifications of new assays and ensure ongoing method validation is performed to monitor test performance.
Evaluate test menus and methodologies and make recommendations for improvement to Medical and Technical Directors.
Ensure adequate inventory of supplies to meet the needs of the facility.
Resource other testing departments as needed with method verification protocols, instrument selection, verification and interfacing, site-to-site correlations, reference range calculations etc. to fulfill the requirements of CLIA '88.
Manage the Engagement Survey results to ensure issues are addressed and resolved.
Work to engage the staff by sharing results, and including them in planning sessions and action plan implementation.
Provide clear, consistent communication to staff through regularly scheduled department meetings, department scorecard, memos, CE offerings, follow-up from management meetings and personal communication.
Select, evaluate, and develop staff. Ensure all training/orientation and competency documentation is complete and available.
Provide direct supervision/mentoring to all staff in concert with the company vision and mission to meet business objectives and customer expectations. Prepares fair and unbiased corrective action for staff when necessary.
Ensure that all applicable company documents are completed within established timeframes. Including but not limited to timecards, probationary reviews, training checklists, root cause analysis and company-wide training in Learning Management System.
Assist in the general management of the organization through participation with sales staff, project work, collaboration with other functional units, etc.
Prepare monthly reports to include quality, productivity, projects and financials. Submit budget variance reports for budget/actual differences of greater than defined limits.
Oversee the management of the compliance activities of the company and facility to ensure full compliance by all staff members. Assist in the development of compliance policies and procedures as required.
Provide consultation on technical and lab support matters to client hospitals, laboratories, physician offices, business and industry as requested.
Update and maintain department procedure manuals following all document control processes.
Participate in the teaching of medical technology students, medical students, residents and fellows, as needed.
Actively participate in safety program for the department in accordance with the policies set forth by the Safety Manager. Fosters and promotes a culture of safety within the department. Make safety a priority. Comply with all company and department safety and health policies.
Develop and maintain professional external contacts.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by promoting and encouraging process improvement and continuous improvement philosophies.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories by performing other technical, non-technical, administrative or educational duties as needed.

Qualifications:
Board certified (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Scientist, with a Bachelor's degree and 3 years laboratory experience.
Demonstrated success and experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility, with demonstrated skills and abilities.
Integrity and accuracy in decision-making and judgment.
Excellent communication and team building skills.
Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables, and to maintain multiple areas of responsibilities simultaneously.
Demonstrate the core values of the organization.
